CART AT TIFF

Hi everyone, I just wanted to write about my experience before and after watching this movie.

As you all know Kyungsoo is one of the characters in this film and um yeah one of the main reasons why i watched it was because of him (I have no shame because he's one of my ultimate biases LOL) I dressed up (I even wore heels and got a bad bleeding blister in the end). But yeah, we came and the theatre was pretty small and 60 percent of the audience was females and korean (with the last name kim).

I had no idea that we were the first audience to actually watch the movie, because the director actually flew in from korea to watch it on the big screen with us.

Overall the audience was completely silent and I feel like me and my friend were probably the loudest in the theatre, because damn i felt like i was in a library LOL.

So the director came up and described the film for a bit and it started.

Basically it starts out with the main character, Sun Hee who works at a grocery/discount store as a cashier supporting for Taeyong (D.O) and her daughter while her husband is working abroad. She has had no penalties whatsoever and was promised to soon have a full time job. Another coworker, hye mi is introduced and she is a single mother. And lastly an ajumma soon rye, who is a janitor is also another main character. The company decides to lay off all of these women and they all lose their jobs, and soon they decide to form a union. They try to meet up with the company but they don't show up and act as if they can't do anything because "they're just women", soon this leads too a chain events of them protesting in the store, trying to make their voices heard, and sleeping in the store, all while the company uses violent means to stop them.

And while this is all happening Taeyong is struggling in school (having no money for lunch, a new cellphone and no money for the school's trip which would count on his attendance) and he meets a girl who shares the same predicament. Later, he decides to work for the trip and eventually he runs into a similar situation as his mother. He feels like she is uncaring towards him (because she is too busy protesting) and he is left to take care of himself and his little sister and that is why his character remains stoic throughout the movie.

I won't spoil it any further but I thought that the acting in this movie was truly beautiful. The actors and actresses really portrayed their characters well and I honestly felt so heart broken for each of them.

The company really pissed me off because they used violence as the last resort to take care of these women who just wanted to be noticed and heard. All they wanted was something so simple, but the company could only provide hardship after hardship for them.

This was honestly the first movie where my back wasn't glue to the chair and I had to lean over the whole time (all of my force was directed towards my feet with my heels and my foot bled like cray, BUT IT WAS ALL WORTH IT THO)

But trust me everyone, this movie is truly amazing and really speaks to women out there... It makes me sad how this is what happens in real life when you try to take a stand, but regardless it should be spread everywhere internationally to give awareness because you really can't trust the media.

After the film the director answered personal questions and everyone was praising her because we can relate to the situation because it happens here a lot as well, although I'm sure that the means of stopping the protests were less harsh. She also said "Yes, and the famous idol from that popular group exo, Do Kyungsoo was in my movie and I really thought that I was destined to work with such an amazing cast" (I should've filmed that.. SOBS)

SIDE NOTE: KYUNGSOO WAS SUUUUUUUPER ADORBS EVEN IF HIS FACE WAS LIKE THIS THE WHOLE TIME >>> ._.

He is an aspiring actor and I hope to see more films from him in the future!!! (he's reaally choosing the right films and dramas to act in) I think it's okay that's love really shows the problems and hardships of patients with different psychological issues and cart was just very empowering (sorry to repeat that again LOL)

BUT BAE YOU DOIN GREEEEEAT <3 <3
