Life Choices
The things you do for work. I found out that I didn't get the job for my first interview because of my hair color. Those who know me know, that not only do I not wear ridiculously crazy hair color, but I put a lot of time in effort into my hair because I like to look nice.
Although red isn't a hair color that is considered natural for my skin tone (I'm not white) it looked natural enough for every Korean to think it was my natural hair color.
Why does this matter? Because I had to dye my hair a god awful black color for the interview I am now getting ready for today.
When did they stipulate so many rules for an interview?
Must have normal hair.
Dress one step better than what you would wear to work.
Don't wear open toed shoes.
Keep nail polish neutral tones.
Keep hair out of your face (pin bangs to the side)
Wear makeup, but don't wear a cat eye.
Am I the only one frustrated by this? I despise normal hair because, news flash, I'm not normal. I'm unique and love to show off that fact.
I don't dress anything but what makes me feel good about myself, how am I supposed to know what is inappropriate or overdressed.
They obviously haven't seen my closet. Every pair of shoes I own is opened toed or sneakers, which are a big no no for interviews.
*laughs hysterically* The closest I have to neutral tone is nefertiti gold polish (still considered distracting)
Since when has bangs been considered unkempt or unprofessional?
So is the kitten eye and lips I wear everyday okay?
Sorry for the rant. Just irritated at the moment. If I look put together and my hair doesn't scream "I'm a rebel!" I don't see why I would have to change. What ever happened to getting hired based off of skills and attitude?
Maybe I should just stay in college -_-
If you have any tips I'd love to hear them. I interview in 7 hours and don't think I can do anything more to my look to look "professional".
