I've done this review 5 days ago because my friend asked me to do it (coz, basically she can't check the album for herself because of some internet connection problems, so as a good friend of hers, I made the effort to review the album for her;)). I just want to share what I feel about this album so I decided to post it here in AFF)

 

NOTE: Everything that you'll read was written subjectively, meaning, it truly shows what I really felt about the album.

So, it may be a bit biased...LOL

WARNING: A LOT OF SPAZZING AND FANGIRLING...YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!!!!

1. VOID

Okay, One Word. DOPE. Enuff said..This is the first time I was actually DETERMINED to know the song's meaning. I love Mino's and SH's rapping, Namtae's voice is so sweet, KSY's voice so flawless...and Kim Jinwoo asdasfsdfsdgdfgdsfsgs!!!! that y voice in the chorus, I was addicted to it...As for the MV, as expected it is 'YG STYLE'...it has a combination of class and finesse...LOVE IT!!

 

2. COLOR RING

This is the first song I heard from the album. It was a bit of an 'okay' song for me at first but as I listened to it further, I started to "emphatize" with it....it was definitely more than an 'okay' song... It was like:

1st Time hearing it: 'an okay song', nothing special...

2nd time: Damn it, I haven't notice it's so emotional...

3rd time: What the f--- my heart flutters!!!

4th and a thousand times after: DAMN, THIS IS MAH JAM!!!!

 

3. DON'T FLIRT

I can't stop my head from bobbing into the beat... This song is reggae feel, it's fun to hear... I never knew LSH can improve so much in rapping...all of them are 'shining' in this song, the vocal line is so smooth, the rapper line is so powerful...

 

4. I'm Him (Song Mino's Solo Song)

Okay. I'M DONE. Song Mino is usually compared to YB, TOP and GD...but no, Song Mino is nowhere near those three...YB, GD and TOP are already kings and I think Song Minho could create  his own path...like no other... TOP-like voice?? No, yes---they're almost the same because of raspy-ness, but TOP's voice is deeper while Song Minho's is 'lighter' (wut's the most appropriate adjective? don't know either)...About the song, this is one of my favorites in the album...

 

5. Love is a lie

Very club-like and I was surprised to know that Mino composed this (I thought it was more Taehyun's style). It's cute but honestly it's my least favorite track in the album...I mean--- I like it but not as much as I love the others...

 

6. Confession (Nam Taehyun's Solo Song)

Very SWEET~~ it's emotional and sweet mixed in with NamDiva's honey-like voice. Dang...I can't think of anybody who has the same voice as Taehyun, he's the first one in his kind--- :)

 

7. But

The first thing that came into my mind when the first time I heard about this is--- it sounds like 'Bad Hero'---only the verses, not the chorus (see Winner TV),  but only a 'LOT BETTER', it's mellow and very acoustic-like--- which really suits my taste...

 

8. Different

This is what you call emotional hiphop meets acoustic meets ballad in one song... It also sounds like an anime-ending song... It's great and it's totally my JAM <3... one of the best tracks, I think...

 

9. Tonight

It's LOVE... what more can I say. It sounds like a Taeyang song at first...but Winner totally owned it when you listen to it a few times more...

 

10. Smile Again  

Trap meets Dance pop...it's cute but I prefer the old one, the Acoustic meets Electro-pop one <3

 

Full Album Review: It's brilliant for a debut album. Before I came to love hiphop, my first love will always be acoustic <3, so this album is definitely my JAM. It's an album that really makes me feel 'oh I need to buy this one'.

Well, every album that comes out from YG are always worth the waiting and the money...so---

 

BTW. PS: (I just wanted to let this one out...)

 

When the debut tracklist first came out, I'm quite sad coz there are some ICs who're disappointed, maybe because they're used to typical YG 'swag'. I mean, how can they say that Winner isn't what they expected from YG? Winner may not have that much typical YG 'SWAG' but they definitely have the 'STYLE'  and we can safely say that they're still  'YG CLASS'...

I think this album is another proof that YG is willing to verge into other type of music. This is WINNER's music. It's DIFFERENT. Those who're not satisfied, the door is always open, they can leave the fandom whenever they want...but those who love Winner's music are free to stay :) 

 

All-in-all, I am excited for this group, and I'll watch out for them and expect greater things from them in the future...

 

Right after the album came out,  I'm proud to say that I'm officially part of the INNER CIRCLE :)

Well, what can I say? Their music stole my heart. <3
