appearance — Simon has an oval-shaped birthmark on the back of his left hand. People often mistake it for a mole or freckle. He doesn't have any tattoos, but he does have a conch piercing on his right ear. When he was younger, his friend pushed him out of a treehouse and when he hit the ground, a large stick struck the inside of his left forearm, leaving a scar roughly two inches long.

personality — 

Simon is well-liked by everybody. It is extremely easy for him to make friends because of his outgoing personality—but while he is a very outgoing person, he is also shy. He enjoys being around a lot of people, but at the end of the day, he often likes to keep to himself and not be social while preparing to go to sleep.

In addition to being outgoing, he is also very cute and childish. He is not by any means immature, but he has no problem keeping in touch with his kiddish nature. He often has to touch things while passing them in stores, museums, etc. In variety shows and interviews, he likes to be the center of attention, because he knows what the crowd usually wants: aegyo.

Simon may be cutesy and adorable off-stage, but on-stage, he shows nothing but pure determination. Dance is his passion, and he gives it his all when performing with the other members. His dream is to one day be recognized as one of the best dancers in K-pop, and he is well on his way to meeting that goal.

He loves being recognized for fashion trends. Simon can almost always be seen wearing either a beanie (or another type of hat), glasses, or both. Whenever he gets the chance, he loves to take a trip to various shops or surf the Internet to find and purchase the latest fashions.

background — Simon was born in San Francisco, California, to parents Dokgo Dongcheol (father) and Jang Boneul (mother). He is an only child. He lived in the United States with his parents until he was 6 years old, and then moved to Incheon, South Korea with his father. His parents separated in a casual, mutual manner. Simon's mother stayed in the United States when he and his father moved to Korea, but she made sure to call often and visit at least once a year to remain active in her son's life. Simon was bullied often in middle school due to his feminine face and abnormally high-pitched voice, but he knew better than to let the bullies get to him. He remained strong and confident in himself and his abilities. Growing up, he always enjoyed singing and dancing, and practiced whenever he could. When he was 14 years old, he participated in an audition for SM Entertainment, but was not selected to become a trainee with them. Simon was not discouraged by the rejection, however, and practiced harder than ever before until he auditioned for TS Entertainment a year later. He was chosen to become a trainee, and later became a member in the upcoming 7-member boy group, ZEUS.
