the girl next door.

TRAITS » sociable, rash, energetic, impulsive, optimistic, superior

personality » Gongri is an outgoing, straight-shooting type. Enthusiastic and excitable, she is a "doer" who lives in the world of action. Blunt, straightforward risk-taker, she is often willing to plunge right into things and get her hands dirty. She lives in the here-and-now, and places little importance on introspection or theory. She looks at the facts of a situation, decides quickly what should be done, executes the action, and moves on to the next thing. Gongri has a strong flair for drama and style. She is fast-moving and fast-talking, someone who has an appreciation for the finer things in life. She loves to play the role of storyteller and is quite an expert at improvising. She typically makes things up as she go along, rather than following a plan. She loves to have fun, and is a fun person to be around. Sometimes, she can be hurtful to others without being aware of it, as she generally doesn't know or may not care about the effect her words have on others. It's not that she doesn't care about people, it's just that her decision-making process does not always involve taking people's feelings into account. She makes a lot of her decisions based on facts and logic.

Gongri has an uncanny ability to perceive people's attitudes and motivations. She picks up on little cues which go completely unnoticed by most, such as facial expressions and stance. She is generally a couple of steps ahead of the person she is interacting with. Using this ability, she often works to get what she wants out of a situation. Rules and laws are seen as guidelines for behavior, rather than mandates, in her eyes. If she has decided that something needs to be done, then her "do it and get on with it" attitude takes precendence over the rules. However, she tends to have her own strong belief in what's right and what's wrong, and will doggedly stick to her own principles. The Rules of the Establishment may hold little value to her, but her own integrity mandates that she will not under any circumstances do something which she feels to be wrong.

She needs to keep moving, and does well in areas where she is not restricted or confined. She will often become stifled and unhappy dealing with routine chores. Having a natural abundance of energy, she can get very excited about things, and has the ability to motivate others to excitement and action. Gongri is action-oriented and makes a lot of decisions without thinking about it beforehand. All-in-all, she has extraordinary talents for getting things started. She isn't always as good at following through, though, and might leave those tasks to others. Mastering the art of following through is something which she should probably pay closer attention to. It is also rare to see this girl completely calm and collected. She may look like it from the outside, but this girl can be a wild mess of fun times and chaos on the inside. With a habit of having too much energy in store, she sometimes finds herself running all over the place, talking like a waterfall and discussing all kinds of crazy ideas with others or even herself whenever she's bored enough. Boredom is her worst enemy, and this is often the reason for her overexaggeration of her energy supply. She often uses it to let herself out during her time off, when partying, dancing and having a good time

background » Eun Gongri was born in the Gyeonggi Province and the city of Gwacheon. She has been raised as the only child of Eun Minseok after her mother passed away during childbirth. Her father raised her on his own, and she didn't really have any maternal figure around here, resulting in her adopting more of a tomboy persona. Because her father wasn't much of a cook, she took on the job of making food as quickly as she was allowed to be alone with the oven and found herself enjoying the culinary arts, especially when it came to making pastries, which was one of the few "girly" things she did while she was still a child. Gongri met some of the girls in elementary school, but didn't get to know any of them for real until she attended high school. Her father remarried when she was 17, which prompted her to invite the girls to the wedding at the request of her father. She got a new brother out of it and didn't really get along with him at first due to their opposing personalities, but they did find themselves bonding once they got past their initial misunderstandings and prejudices.

Gongri kept contact with most of the girls until she graduated, but she soon became too busy with university to stay in touch with everyone. Within the first six months of college, she didn't text or call any of them anymore. Looking back now, she wasn't sure exactly why she did the things she did, but at the time, bigger things came into focus rather than holding on to the past like she thought she would be doing, considering she was moving to a different city and everything.

PRESENT » Gongri is currently residing in the city of Seoul, sharing a small two-bedroom apartment with her university friend, Woo Hyelim, and their pet fishes, Geumsaeg (gold) and Eunsaeg (silver). She is working as a baker at a local pizza place named Pija's Palace. Because the two of them are both attending university and working part-time jobs, they are limited when it comes to financial resources, but they do not have much of a problem when it comes to paying the bills.

Gongri's daily life includes waking up at 08.00 in order to eat breakfast, shower, feed the fishes and take out the garbage before heading off to class. Class normally ends at 15.00 or 15.30 after which she heads back home or goes to her work, which normally lasts from 17.00 to 22.00 every Monday, Wednesday and Friday and from 15.00 to 21.00 on Saturday. Sunday is her time off, which is when she may decide to head out with friends to the movies or take a trip to Gwacheon to visit her family. If she wakes up early enough, she likes to take a quick jog around the neighbor before showering and eating, but it really depends on her mood and the time of day. The weather doesn't really matter.

When it comes to Gongri's romantic life, she is currently seeing someone who could become a potential partner in the future.

family »

» Father / Eun Minseok / 48 / Office worker / Caring, athletic, benevolent / 9 -- The two of them may have the closest relationship in the family aside from her father and his second wife. Gongri looks up to her father and comes to him for advice. They have a close father-daughter relationship due to years of cooperation and bonding, and they are also the "fishing enthusiasts" in the household.
» Stepmother / Kim Yoonji / 46 / Nurse / Gentle, clear-headed, maternal / 8 -- Gongri is fairly close to her stepmother, considering they've only known each for five or six years straight. While she can't exactly replace the mother that she never knew, Gongri finds Yoonji to be a good parent and is proud to call her a member of the family. She also comes to her for more romance-oriented advice.
» Stepbrother / Kim Seokjin / 22 / University student / Calm, quiet, introverted / 6-7 -- In the beginning, there wasn't too much positive energy between them. Seokjin, who became Gongri's older brother as an aftermath of the re-marriage, he would often make small, but annoying comments about Gongri's "frivolous" nature. She retaliated back, and so it went back and forth between them. These days, they have worked out their differences and have become closer as siblings. They do have the occasional fight, however, because that's just how they are.

friends »

» Roommate / Woo Hyelim / 21 / University student, dance instructor / Cheerful, lively, sociable / 10 -- The two of them have grown close following their friendship throughout the years in university. As Hyelim is older, Gongri calls her "unnie", treating her with proper respect, although she does tend to sneak in a bit of teasing here and there. Hyelim loves to eat the things Gongri makes at home despite being a decent cook herself. The two of them try to talk and exchange updates on their daily lives if they have time for it. They share pets; Gongri has Geumsaeg, Hyelim Eunsaeg.
» Friend / Shin Hyejeong / 20 / Student, part-time model / Quiet, shy, smart / 8 -- Hyejeong is Gongri's junior in university and has been her friend for about a year now. They hang out and talk about their work and love lives and everything in between. Gongri is a little jealous of Hyejeong's beauty, but has no ill thoughts about her otherwise. Hyejeong is often the one pulled along on shopping and to the cinema in an effort of making her more open to meeting new people. Gongri enjoys her company a lot and looks forward to spending time with her.

OTHERS »

» Co-worker / Lee Sungyeol / 22 / Employee at Pija's Palace / Easygoing, flirty, upbeat / 6 -- Gongri shares a respectful and good-natured relationship with her co-worker, Sungyeol. He likes to lean against the door as she prepares the pizza dough or makes the salad and throw compliments and suggestive comments at her, only to be flat-out ignored or receive a sarcastic response in return. They are friendly and have hung out a few after work, but aren't much more than colleagues at the moment.

» Co-worker / Kim Ahyoung / 21 / Employee at Pija's Palace / Cool, smart, meat-loving / 7 -- Ahyoung is Gongri's senior at work, but treats her as if they were the exact same age. Gongri returns this, giving them an easygoing and comfortable working relationship. They are there to help one another out, and Ahyoung likes to give feedbacks on Gongri's cooking and asked once for the recipe to her (in)famous tomato sauce. They like to joke around, but Ahyoung tends to be a little more serious than Gongri.

the one and only.

love interest » Jang Dongwoo ( Nam Woohyun )

AGE » 23
SUMMARY » Dongwoo is currently in his last year of university, majoring in Business Administration at Kyunghee University, Seoul. He lives with his high school friends, Nam Woohyun and Lee Sungkyu, and works part-time as a bartender and waiter. He was born and raised in Seoul, and knows most of city like the back of his hand. He has an older sister and a close relationship with her family.

personality » Looking at this guy once, it would seem as if he had worries at all on this planet. He is filled to the brim with bright smiles and a mouth that goes a hundred miles per hour, but no one really seems mind that much about him. Dongwoo is good with people and likes to communicate in various ways, which includes flirting, bad puns and pranks. It always seems like he never runs out of things to discuss, always eager to talk and entertaining others. Dongwoo is a bit of a rowdy one, always seeking excitement and trying to make everyday life slightly more unpredictable. With a rather expressionate face and eyes that reveal his very soul, there is little for a man like Dongwoo to hide behind. He can have his own insecurities, but likes to stand up and come off to others as charismatic and cool; someone who can trusted and believed in.

HOW THEY MET » The story behind their first meeting is really one to remember, yet it can seem like such a mundane way to first encounter one another to some. It was about a year before the present story begins when Gongri was working towards the end of her Saturday night shift. Dongwoo had the day off from work due to renovations and decided to grab a bite at Pija's Palace with a couple of his co-workers. They ordered their pizza and drinks and were sitting, talking amongst themselves with great enthusiasm that could be heard all the way from the kitchen. Gongri got curious and took a look outside, but was quickly interrupted by Sungyeol, who had to get through. When their drinks were due to come, Ahyoung was their waitress for the evening. When she entered their line of vision, something funny (to some) happened. A child on the neighboring table decided to take off and bumped into her, making her fall and loose the drinks all over the boys. Gongri, who was packing up for the night, heard the noise and hurried off to see what had happened. Glasses were broken all over the place, Ahyoung apologizing on the floor. Dongwoo volunteered in cleaning up the mess, and Gongri got a broom to help out with it. The two of them, Gongri and Dongwoo, got most of the shards out of the way before taking a minute to exchange a few words of politeness. Gongri was surprised to see such a handsome man in front of her and was rather quick to introduce herself, much to the amusement of others. Dongwoo didn't mind it at all and brought his hand out for her to shake, thus ending their status as complete strangers.

INTERACTIONS » Dongwoo and Gongri are very similar in terms of personality. Both of them are people in their early 20s who enjoys when life is exciting and slightly unpredictable while maintaining a positive state. In the beginning, Dongwoo comes by the pizzaria a few times a week in order to eat and catch a glimpse of the cute chef behind the closed kitchen doors. As time goes by, they start interacting more, asking questions about their day before going deeper and deeper into the other's life and dreams. Gongri finds Dongwoo to be a very kind and gentle spirit, someone she can talk to and who truly understands her ambitions and thoughts. Dongwoo is happy to have found someone in Gongri. He likes her very much, and he finds her very fun to be around and treats her more like a friend than a little sister, even though that has happened a couple of times as well. Although they both have friends of their own, they find something special in one another over time. They are hesitant on whether or not they want to pursue a romantic relationship with one another.

LOVE STORY » I would like them to start off as very good friends who seem comfortable in each other's company, but as they start falling in love, things gradually become more awkward between them in that cutesy "what do I do, this or that?" with blushing kind of way and everything. As they become more romantically involved, she will 'casually' invite him over to dinner one evening when her roommate is out, and he will mention a new movie coming up or a new place he's been wanting to check out and hint at the desire for her presence here and there. Both of them like excitement and a bit of drama, but they aren't as good when it comes to relationships, so it would be so cute to see them act like friends, but secretly want something more and thinks no one knows, but in fact everyone knows except the two of them. (Hehe, I'm no good at this. ^^;)

I'M SORRY.

THE STORY » Gongri and Minjoo had a good relationship while she was still alive. Back in high school, they were those friends who would joke and laugh about everything the other person said. Gongri found the other person fun and great to be around, and they would often hang out after school and study together, Gongri asking for help in a subject, etc.

Currently » Gongri lost contact with all of them, including Minjoo, once school started to become too much of a hazard. She didn't mean to lose contact with her, but life moves on and things change because the world is always in motion, unfortunately. Gongri thought about her every now and then, wondering how she was and thinking she should probably try to contact her once more, but it never happened, unfortunately.

THE OTHERS » Gongri was close to the other girls and loved hanging around with them, referring to them as her second family, almost. She was the one who was always up to something, whether it was making them something new and crazy or inviting them to a sports game or fishing. She felt like she could rely on the girls during the harder times, not even thinking of what could happen to them in the future because in the present, she was very happy where she was.

REMORSE » Gongri heard about the death on the phone. Her brother, who had knowledge about a lot of people these days, was unfortunately the one to tell her about it. Gongri had actually been one to notice slight changes in Minjoo's behavior while they were in high school, but she didn't think much about it at the time. Although she never really took contact with the girls after what happened, she knew she had to do something when she saw them at Minjoo's funeral. She wanted to pick up whatever pieces were lying around, get some tape and piece it all back together, although the void in their hearts could never be completely filled after what happened. Gongri had seen what it had done to Minjoo; she didn't want it to happen to anyone else of her old group and knew that she would do anything to get the chance to bring back what was left of them.

last words.

comments/suggestions » I was very excited when I wrote this, and I am sorry if some of the details are too vague or too overwhelming.. I haven't written an application in a while now... I have no suggestions, unfortunately. My brain is goo and I am about to go to sleep now.

scene requests » I might come back for that one later... hehe.
