Being born in December had it's ups and downs. Every year for her birthday, Ae Mi's mother and father took her to their private cabin located in the mountains of Taiwan and it snowed like crazy over there. Ae Mi loved the snow a lot because her father would always take her out to build a snowman almost everyday while her mother would prepare delicious snacks and hot chocolate inside, and it even got to the point where they built forts, made a snowman army, and threw snowballs at each other until it got dark. The three would cuddle up next to the fireplace and snuggle until Ae Mi fell asleep, and the cycle would begin again the very next day. The downs? She hated summer a whole lot. It was way too hot for her liking and some of the kids at her school made fun of her because of her pale skin while they all had nice tans. But she didn't really care about what they thought, it was just the fact that the sun and her didn't get along well, especially when she had to wake up really early because of school. She also didn't get good grades in school, but it wasn't that bad either, mostly C's and that occasional B-minus that her parents would get all excited about. The point is, she wasn't the smartest cookie in the jar.

Ae Mi also wasn't very popular, she just had two of her closest friends that grew up with her ever since kindergarten. Ae Mi was seperated from them when they both got into the same college while she stayed home to keep her parents company. She didn't want anything to do with school anymore since she had her heart set on being a professional snowman builder, which her father supported and her mother simply shook her head upon. But she had a talent for singing and often sang her parents to sleep when they were feeling under the weather. During the day, she worked as a barista at a popular cafe and even had a little crush on the manager who was just a few years older than her. Of course, being the clumsy girl she was, Ae Mi had spilled piping hot coffee on his shirt causing him to go to the hospital and she quit her job there out of embarassment. Wanting to get out of New Taipei because she just couldn't face him and her co-workers anymore, she moved her and her parents to the little cabin that they had stopped going to ever since her freshman year. And she absolutely adored living there.

She had never thought that she would finally grow a liking for summer and the sun before she moved, but after, she had found out the weather up there during that hot season was just how she wanted it to be. And, just like the old days, she built snowmen with her father again when it was winter. He often told her that she was just the same as she used to be and she had replied with a promise that she would always be there for him.

And when she was taken away, she didn't exactly respond as well as one might think she would.

It was just a regular Sunday in December, just a day before Ae Mi's birthday. Ae Mi's mother was inside, making Ae Mi's cake, while her and her father were outside, stocking up on snowballs to launch at each other later. Crouched behind a packed wall of snow, Ae Mi was making sure that she would have around 15 balls, but always lost count because of her forgetfulness. Meanwhile, a certain someone was silently watching her every movement, still trying to decide if she was the right one or not. He weighed his choices carefully, but chose to just go after the oblivious girl since the rest of the guardians had already chosen their partners. He slowly approached her and Ae Mi looked up instantly, thinking that it was her father. The snow balls that were cradled in her arms were suddenly thrown at him in one go and he fell to the floor in surprise. She hastily got up after realizing that it wasn't, in fact, her father, but a squishy man. He then introduced himself as Xiumin. Ae Mi was a bit confused as to why this mysterious male was talking to her, especially in Korean, and she got a little scared despite his awfully adorable appearance. But anyone could be a . She furrowed her eyebrows and bowed a little, saying that she was Sunmi (which was one of her friend's name), but Xiumin just chuckled since he knew she was lying, causing her confusion to grow even more.

Before she could run towards her father like a child, he grabbed her wrist, and in one swift motion, Xiumin and Ae Mi were running through the tall forest trees. Too shocked to do anything but follow him, she soon found herself in long meadow that was covered in white blankets of snow. She lit up instantly, forgetting that there was a strange man behind her, and started to laugh and jump up and down. "Appa!" she cried out in happiness, but turned around to meet eyes with Xiumin. Then she remembered. Appa wasn't there. He then started to explain to her about the system of guardians, but it was way too much to process so she broke down in frustration and started to sob loudly. Xiumin panicked and told her that he would give her baozis if she stopped crying since he knew how much she loved them after watching over her for a few years, and just like that, she was up and jumping again. She practically tackled him after he said that and they soon left.

Many people say that Ae Mi is a child stuck in a young adult's body, but she thinks otherwise. She calles herself mature and humble, but she really isn't. Stubborn and childish, Ae Mi always goes against orders and does whatever she wants. She's quite ditzy and forgetful, resulting in the frustration of all of the guardians and the other girls there. If she puts her phone in her pocket, five minutes later, she'll forget where it is. Surprisingly, she's actually very easy to get along with, with her bubbly personality and her silly remarks that she doesn't even mean to make. Sometimes people will laugh at her when she's being serious and she'll end up crying like a big, over emotional baby. It's very easy for one to trick Ae Mi because she's naive and gullible, and gives her full trust in everyone very quickly.

Since Xiumin is the only she gets along well with most among the 22 others (because of the baozis and his cheeks that she loves to squeeze), she always hides behind his back when she's shy, just like a kid does to his/her father. Ae Mi always wears her smile no matter where she's at, unless she's crying in the corner like she always does when watching a scary movie or when there's a bug somewhere in the house, because she absolutely hates the two. She once got scared of a pair of toe socks that Xiumin had thought would look cute on her, and ended up in his arms for hours, refusing to look at it again because it had cute spiders on it.

When she's not around someone she's close with, she gets really lost and scared. She'll walk around in circles until she finds one of the girls or the guardians. Oh, and a little tip, don't explain really hard things to her because she'll end up asking about it a few minutes later. Just dumb it down or else you'll be stuck with her for a whole day, maybe even a week, just trying to tell her what a certain word or object means/does/is used for/etc.

PERSONALITY. Xiumin is really friendly, and, as the plotline states, a huge pushover. He lets others walk over him like he's a doormat and is totally fine with it, since he doesn't use his control over them as an advantage. Whenever someone's sad, he'll be the first one to be there to comfort them (which makes Ae Mi quite jealous if it's not her who's being comforted) and is a huge sweetheart. He's also considered the funniest and very outspoken. Whatever is on his mind will and shall be known by everyone around him, because he does not give a living about what they think, he just needs to let something go (except when he's around Ae Mi because he knows she's a big baby... like Tao). Since he's too nice to do anything really mean, he only laughs at the other boys' pranks, but will never join them, and the reason for that is simple: he feels bad for Joonmyeon.

No one has ever heard Minseok yell or scream in anger, mainly because his voice is too soft, just like his chubby heart. Xiumin knows when to be serious, and when it's okay not to be. When it comes to training, he does his best to help Ae Mi and will always be there to support the others. When he's just goofing off with his fellow guardians, he acts like a huge child who 'buing buing~'s all of the time. And because of this (even though he's waaaaaaay smarter), people tend to compare him and Ae Mi together.

(A/N: I hope I gave you a better explanation. Uhm, when I say that he's not afraid to speak his mind, he's still a pushover because whatever's on his mind is just rainbows and unicorns. OTL Just kidding, I mean to say that he doesn't think badly of others, so there's really nothing that bad coming out of his kissable mouth.)

MEETING. As mentioned in the background, Xiumin had taken her to a field of snow that he prepared himself just for her. He had actually been watching over Ae Mi for a long time just to see if she was the right one since he was searching for an innocent soul, one who would cheer him up with warm hugs and a bright smile. When he laid eyes on Ae Mi, he knew that she was the one that he wanted to guard. After she tackled went with him to the other guardians, he had given her a few baozis that she finished in under 10 minutes, and it was then that he knew he made the right choice. Because she reminded him of an adorable squirrel.

INTERACTIONS/STORY. Because Ae Mi can't really trust the other people, she likes to stick with him all of the time. If he needs to go out, she'll follow him like a puppy, and if he's going to sleep, she'll go to sleep at the same time. If he's going to eat, she'll eat right next to him as well and if he's going to use the bathroom, she'll stay in one spot until he comes back to get her. To say the least, she refuses to say or do anything without his presence, which totally pisses everyone but him off. Honestly, he feels kind of good that there's someone that is always with him, especially if that person is a cute girl who holds his hand and hugs him when ever she feels the need to. When she looks at him, she just always has this urge to pinch and squeeze his cheeks, but tries her hardest to refrain because she doesn't want to get him angry. Sometimes, she'll wonder where her parents are (because she's not fully aware he kidnapped took her away from them forever) and cry in his arms since she misses them dearly. Xiumin is also the only person who could wake her up in the morning since she hates getting up.
