First day of work

PLEASE KILL ME.

Okay, anyway. I started working in a callcenter. It is pure hell. (I'm on outgoing calls so..) the thing is that most people who pick it up are either:

- busy

- dead

- not one bit curious and hating on me

- sick (as in dying sick)

- working on the days of the promoted .

Seriously, I know that a lot of these are hoaxes but they don't even care about how other people don't sit in those stupid cubicles because they want to. I personally am doing it because if I won't, I won't be able to become an aupair, my parents won't let me go. And even from strangers, it hurts to be ignored and whatever. Funny fact is that we are promoting a GIFT to them (after some presentation of some ty stuffy lol) AND they get free food after that. So maybe the gift isn't ohmygodsogreat but aren't 1-2-3 hours of your life worth a free meal? Seriously, while talking to them and getting hungrier and hungrier (we work from 8 to 4, with short breaks barely enough to eat a few bites and lunch break where I felt sick lol)...so yeah, I envied them a lot.

My point is that no one should judge strangers: listening to their talk won't hurt. It's not like it's the people in the call center being a douche for calling you: it's their job. I could have gotten another job, yes, but... I didn't and now I have to suffer.

Trust me, it's not something people there do for their amusement.

*hugs you tight* I know exactly what you mean. The job is far from glamorous and people can be real douches!!! Make friends with those around you to make it worth while. Other wise, it is hell. Sorry about that.

Fighting, maybe you'd get used to it.

Human beings love to blame the messanger when they're mad at something, and that's what working at a call center entails... Being a messanger.

I'm so sorry... That sounds awful... But I'm confident that you can kick this job's ! So you should be, too! This will be a stepping stone on your journey to become an au pair. You can do it!

Its bad that you had that experience first day of your job, but really people just don't trust call centres. I would personally hang up, just because I've had so many that are hoaxes or just call to bother you.
But my brother in law used to work there and he enjoyed it while he did, it's just hard work <3 you'll get through it.

Sorry to hear that... but you shouldn't take it personal when people wanna hang up on you if you work for a call center... Many people have made bad experiences with callcenters, being signed under a contract when they didn't even agree to it and such... I myself am uncomfortable when talking on the phone even with people I know. And I'm not antisocial if I do say so myself, not much at least. But spending 1-2-3 hours on the phone for a free meal? Doesn't such an informative call usually only last like 10 minutes max.? Heck, I just hung up on my dad after only thirty seconds.
That aside, people are pretty defensive when they talk to people they don't know on the phone so it's no use to feel down about it. Be more positive. Think about your goal and achieving that goal. It makes it easier to bear, no?
