Lee sunwoo, Chaewon's father, is the Korean ambassador for England and Ireland. During 1992, Chaewon was born in Ireland, and then moved to England when she was two. Her mother is elementary school teacher before she got pregnant with Chaewon. After Chaewon turned 5, she started to teach again. They move back to Korea when Chaewon was  asked to join sm.

How did you get into the company?

When Chaewon was a freshman in high school, she and her friends would go to rap battles and dance battles. One day, one of the VPs of sm was on vacation and witness Chaewon. He thought she had potential so he asked her to join sm.

How was your trainee life?

It was hard to adjust because of the language barrier. Was friends with the trainees who could speak english. It took her awhile to improve her vocals, but her rapping was very solid. she was praised for her rapping multiple times.
