"Fic Peeves" in AFF

I'm not posting this for hate or anything, it's just that I'm having many issues with the present AFF.

Okay maybe most of you will be like OMG THIS HAPPENED and you go check around and find that I'm only targeting on the minors, but what I speak are the truth.

So yes, I know EXO is a really hot group nowadays, the fame and their NC fans and all. No offense, I love the talented group too. And prior to that, it seems like more fictions from the group had been created. Now when I refresh the "Latest Updated" list, this is the most likely streak of twenty fictions I come across:
EXO. EXO. EXO. EXO. SNSD. EXO. B.A.P. EXO. EXO. EXO. Recommendations. Graphics shop. EXO. EXO. EXO. EXO. Running Man. EXO. Contest. RP Applications.

Okay, side complain over here when it comes to the graphics' shops. What's the point of "No other applications from other shops once you've requested from us"? I mean... If one is not satisfied with yours and (possibly) you're not willing to redo, they are the ones who own the rights to find someone else. I mean, you tried out a new shampoo and figured out that it was not the right one for you, so you buy your second bottle of a different brand. Do the promoters recgonize you and pull you away from other competitors? No. In fact, it only makes you look desperate and lack of attention.

Now the real things, and please do read and (if it had ever happened to you) reflect.

My first peeve: Illogic.
I won't explain further on this, but... Who in the world advertises a fiction that is marked with a friends-only access? What if the author hardly makes it on the internet and it'll take people ages to get their request accepted and they'll eventually forget why have they added them for.

Not to mention those authors who "don't add people who they don't know". Okay, cyber safety and all, but... you sure you expect people to know your story?

Next is the comments on the "New Daily Random Story!" stories.
Why the Shisus is everybody congratulating the author when their stories are "featured" there?

Hell, it's not even a feature system. It's just a generator that randomly picks a story from the site and gives it "free advertisement" every day no matter how old and how isolated it is (I've seen those back from 2010 when the Taiwanese era hasn't even started to fade), hence the name "RANDOM".

So the author will one day, wake up and see hundreds of comments congratulating the "feature" of the story, then make him/her spazz the whole day, tell their mom, dad, grandmom, granddad, dog, cat or whatever pet (I tried really hard to rhyme that) then log in again, realize the absence of the yellow star, then only come to acknowledge that it's only chosen as the Daily Random.

Wow. You guys are "mean". I mean... You guys really don't understand what does random mean. Even my friend understands it. Not that she's lacking in English or whatever... She's just confused with the meaning of the word, but that's not the point.

"No update before I get ××× comments or ××× subs or ××× upvotes"
Okay, I've searched around for people who carry this "system" out for the comments... And I feel you guys. Sometimes, comments really do seem more precious than upvotes, let it be a simple "Update Soon!" with a smile at the end. But demanding them are a really, really bad choice. It makes you look desperate (again), like, honestly. You may be fond of the karma points you get from commenting on other stuff, but do keep in mind that some don't, or probably because they don't write that much and they don't know what to comment on your story. Most people who join this community probably did to enjoy reading fan-fictions, find people with the same hobbies or favourite groups and stuff. Most of the time, they would actually unsubscribe instead if they'd see such mentions in your A/N.

I know, because I'm one of them. *cheeky laugh*

But really, it's probably because I have a rather different mindset from those of you: I also write myself, and though I don't really care about my subscribers, I'd still reply to every comment and thank every upvotes despite my lack of attention towards their subs. (I still thank them though, not individually because my internet here is rather slow and it will take me ages to thank them one by one) I see to it that though comments are rare, I still don't get frustrated at the silence since I should be appreciating that at least I have readers. Comments are just additional excitement for me.

I don't know... but this thing is still bothering me. Just... Remember if you have these kind of systems in your stories don't expect me to read them.

Now my most recent and biggest pain in the neck ever.
I understand that we have amateurs among us. Which of us authors didn't start writing with our worst vocabulary? I, myself, am aware that my grammar and vocabulary did not start improving until "Blue Tears of the Sea" was published.

People are going to call me fake here, but I seriously never expected that it would get 4 upvotes. Okay exclude Joan's because she practically upvotes everything so make that three. But such case is not the biggest problem I have here with the community.

Believe it or not, I always take peeks at the featured stories, let it be a general one or a rated one. And when I mean "peeks", I simply just click into a random chapter and see how the author writes, basically the grammar, vocabulary, and most importantly, the punctuation.
I cannot tolerate the missing full stops. There's only one story that I tolerate such issues, and that's "The Mute Queen". The author made the story really colourful and she hardly ever remembers her full stops, but the plot is so intriguing that I couldn't resist reading it. I stopped by because I needed angst guidelines and I was curious at how the empire fictions made their way. I only continued because I was relieved when she said she had a beta reader... Though that said person is practically missing... But that's still fine for me. I'm already hooked onto the plot of the story.

But recently the feature system is going badly wrong these days. I've scanned through the fictions, and some of them lack vocabulary and stuff. The worst of all LACKS THE MOST IMPORTANT FULL STOPS.

FULL STOPS.

AND IT'S FEATURED.

I know it's featured because the fans upvoted it... But seriously, can you fans at least have a higher standard? For me, a good plot will cut off its connections with my subscription, upvote and super rare comments if I don't see hooking vocabulary and the most important full stops. I'll be: "No. NO." with a smile at the end like how G.Na had that black lady fight with Brian Joo on some random variety show.

. I mean, seriously, take the older fictions and compare them with nowaday ones, you'll agree with me that the recent readers are literally spamming the arrows for the sake of their favourite idols. It's actually quite unfair, if you see to it.

Well... AFF rules: Feature with the most upvotes. I can't do anything with it. As long as the really good ones don't get plagiarized by others with the changes of the characters' names and a few words, then let the copy-cats get all the popularity and have their hundred points. Because that's exactly what happened.

Side story: One of my Authors' Cabin (the group we formed in Facebook for the authors in our school) mate suggested a book cover for her story "A Dollmaker's Obsession" in Wattpad. Of course I went and make my crappy ones for her, until I found the title extremely familiar and decided to google it, and I found out that she literally changed all of the characters' names from jindeul's fiction of the same name and pasted it exactly on Wattpad. And that was why people were praising at her "excellent" vocabulary. Of course I announced it to the group, I just didn't expect her to delete immediately and PM-ed me her apology... After all, she should be apologizing to jindeul himself, not me. I'm not the author of the story. But at least she's learnt a lesson.

The above are merely my opinions and I've only decided to post them because I smell fungi around me due to the "fatal" boredom from the 19-day holiday here. Until now, none of us has a brief idea why did our government decide to start our holiday on an earlier Wednesday.

But yeah, I'm fine with comments, as usual (and perhaps we can have a more detailed discussion on these topics down there?), just don't share this around with the negs and make me look evil and get all the hate. Because that's cyber bullying, and it's proven.

I don't see anything negative around here. It's actually a good eye opener. I did notice that most of the featured stories are either EXO, B.A.P or BTS, so I take it out from my preference settings.

As an author it's really great to see feed back from readers, but as a reader, I do understand why they don't comment at all. XD I didn't know there are certain authors who would not update if the chapter didn't reached certain number. I guess I haven't read much story yet.

About the grammar, I just want to laugh out loud. XD I tried reading EXO fics, and yes, they lack basic grammar and spelling knowledge. Sometimes even the plot is hard to follow. I just hope they could somehow change the system.
