STYLE: He loves wearing neutral colors and avoids COLORFUL stuff as much as he can. He thinks that he could make himself disappear from the view if he wears neutral colors and not attract too much attention to himself.

PERSONALITY:

Haneul is very strict in courtesy and discipline among s. He doesn’t want them slacking off ‘cause he thinks it’s not nice to see an idol group goofing around especially since they’re still debuting.

He’s more of a nocturnal being than a morning person. Though he often wakes up early in the morning to drink milk. (He drinks milk before and after he sleeps.) He has different smiles.

1) On-screen smile. One that he shows on screen and all their fans as a fan service.

2) Friend and acquaintances smile. One that he shows his friends and the people he knows. Something he flashes whenever he needs it.

3) Rare smile. His genuine and true smile. A smile from deep inside his heart. One that makes those who see it feel light and blush literally. It is his rare smiles that only his family has seen and had never again showed up since their parents died.

He’s not much of an aegyo-lover. He usually starts frowning when his co-members start doing their self-proclaimed aegyos either in the dorm or on varieties. He can’t take much of it.

He is not the total opposite of his twin brother but at some points, they differ a lot. He has the sweet tooth while his brother craves for the spicy food. He stands as the one responsible whenever Hangsung gets into trouble and he takes the blame.

He doesn’t socialize much but because of their REALLY IDENTICAL looks, they sometimes mistaken him for Hangsung so he gets to talk to idols and be friends with them. [Of course he tells them he’s not Hangsung though.]

Both of them love playing “Who’s Who?” game and they love seeing the other people’s eyebrows cringe in confusion.

The words he loves to hear most are “Take care of yourself” and “Don’t tire yourself too much.” He always wants to hear them from people he loves most.

LIKES:

-Taking up-close photos. (He thinks it’s not right to do so. Since he’s the oldest, he’s afraid signs of aging might show. But in reality, he has a really smooth skin.)

-Hacking into anything and everything he feels like hacking.

-Buying the latest gadgets.

-Playing the guitar, piano and any wind instrument

-Idol imitations (the way the sing and move and all that. He can’t do gag men and other celebrities though)

TRIVIA/FACTS:

-He drinks a glass of milk every night before he sleeps. (he can’t sleep when he doesn’t drink it) and drinks another glass after waking up.

-He comments on online photos of him. He thinks it’s his right to have a say about his own pic. (he uses other members’ names as his display name)

-He fell very sick once when he was a kid and after that, he never wanted to be sick again.

-He has poor eyesight on daylight but a very good one at night.

-He’s a Math Geek and a Science Freak. : ) He was his school’s Over-all Olympiad.

-He was a class debater.

-He used to be very bright. But because of a very unfortunate event in his life, his perception in life became dark.

FAMILY

BACKGROUND:

He is the oldest among his siblings. His parents dying in a plane crash, he is entitled to take care of his 4 siblings and handles their businesses his father left. He is helped by his uncle who happens to be one of the big bosses in SM Entertainment.

He (the uncle) offered him to become a trainee since he saw potential in Haneul, in return, he would help him in handling their businesses.

Currently, their uncle is training their youngest brother, Chundoong, in becoming the heir to their business while Haneul and his twin focus into their careers. Still, Haneul feels responsible of his siblings and never fails to make them feel loved and cared though sometimes he becomes hard on them since he doesn’t want to them to fail in their future someday. He only wants the best for them.

PARENTS:

Father: Shim Jungseok (56). His father was a jolly and happy person even if he was a businessman. He wasn’t that tight on his children and was in fact supportive to their dreams and goals.

Mother: Shim Janggeum (55). His mother loved plants and animals. She was a nature-lover. She is a great teacher to all of the children in the family. When Jihwa (his little sister) got sick, she had her in home-schooling and it was his mom who taught her.

*They both died in a plane crash [in their private jet] when they were going home from a conference they attended in Germany. They were found hugging each other on their seats with a family picture tucked in between them. It is said that it was an accident but someone had told Haneul it was a foul play.

SIBLINGS:

Shim Hangsung (23). His twin brother whom he loves so dearly and shares his feelings with. Hangsung is the younger twin and he is training under YG Entertainment. They also have relatives there.

Shim Chundoong (18). He is currently being trained by their uncle so that he would someday handle the company since he didn’t want to be an idol. He prefers sitting behind a desk. He respects Haneul the most and thinks Hangsung is a bit more of an immature-thinker than him.

Shim Jihwa (15). Their lovely maknae whom they cherish the most. They never let anyone near her and they swore when their parents died that they would risk anything, even their lives, just to protect her.

PAST MEMORIES THAT YOU CAN'T FORGET:

The day when they found out that their parents died. Jihwa was only 5, Chundoong 8 and him and Hangsung 13. He wanted to cry out loud and shout his lungs out but then he thought he was the eldest and he was now responsible for his siblings.

WHY?:

It was the day he felt that he had all the responsibilities that his parents had left on him. He was originally a bright person but because of their death, he had to look at the world in a more mature way even if he was only a minor. He also promised that he would someday find out the truth about their parents' death.

TRAINING

BACKGROUND:

He had a hard time coping up with his co-trainees since he didn’t originally want to be an idol. But because of his uncle’s offer he tried his best into becoming the best idol ever born.

Even before auditioning, he was already on the list of accepted trainees, as promised by his uncle but still he showed and proved everyone that he deserved the slot.

Everyone was amazed by his skills that other companies even tried to take him away from SM and lure him to their companies but unfortunately, he had already decided even before they offered.

He even thought of going to YG but since Hangsung wanted to be there first, and they thought it’d be better to be in different companies (they don’t want to compete with the Jo twins. They treat them as their real-life dongsaengs), he went to SM instead.

REASON: She pretended to be someone she wasn’t. She said she was a poor person living in Ilsan province but she actually lives in Busan in a huge mansion and he found out she was only using him for popularity which she got eventually since she got to be an idol.

ENEMIES: he doesn’t like fighting.
