Respect
Hi everyone. Due to a certain topic that has come about I will discussing with you all an issue that I think needs to be addressed in kpop and fandoms in general.
R.e.s.p.e.c.t I know what it means to me.
Frankly from what I have seen the way that some fans respond to other's opinions can be a little downright impolite or rude and it isn't just to the fans but also how they talk about other's biases or favourite groups. Let me give you an example. Here's what one person said about the SM verses Kris scenario:
i don't care about Kris cause he's at the very bottom of my bias list in EXO. but well, it is still quite sad to know that EXO isn't 12 anymore. i hope that rumor isn't true...
So what is this person saying? They don't want EXO to be less than 12 but you don't really like him? Now what if Kris was my bias and I had read that?
Now here's some examples of people not being respectful when it comes to the comments on Allkpop (warning this may be considered racist to some)
utilize KPOP = disgusting chinese = kris, hankyung
Ouch first of all does that person not realise that Korea's music industry is growing in popularity a lot more than Chinese music? No wonder they have people coming from there to Korea and second of all I don't think they even realise the impact of their words.
In the past I've noticed a lot of negativity about the popular authors here on AFF. Being a person that can be easily influenced I realise that I am not one to judge for I was agreeing with what my friends would say about some authors without even knowing them.
Is that being respectful?
There's a good saying which goes 'If you can't say anything nice then don't say anything at all.' Why do we have to comment on a blog if we don't like what the person is saying? Why does it matter if that person writes a story about 1 girl loving 7 guys better yet do we even have to tell someone or blog about it?
Why is respect becoming so outdated? Generation Y is becoming rude in the way we're treating our elders as well as those our age you'd think we'd just come out of caves.
So there's hopefully some food for thought and maybe we can all start thinking about a way we can respect others better. Hate is easy, love is hard.
