New Stuff

Okay, to be honest I'm not quite sure about what to put into a blog. Most just say to write down feelings or opinions and I've been kinda debating on that because I can kinda get ranty... (meaning I will get ranty) But, I figured that I wouldn't scare people away if I stick to a lighter topic, let's hope I'm right. Recently I've become a fan of EXO and I completely put the blame on my friend (in which she responds with maniacal laughter). I've never been a fan of any k-pop group but it seems that I've gotten in, and I'm not really looking that hard for an escape.

Now coming into the world the fandom I was a little bit weirded out at the concept of fanfiction for celebrities. I mean, these are real people we don't actually have a concrete grasp of who they are so why would we act like we do? I'm a kind of person that doesn't condone putting words into people's mouths and this kind of fanfiction felt like that but then I started reading a few, and learned that I actually enjoyed it. Therefore I of course needed to rethink my evaluation so that I wouldn't have to feel guilty whenever I do give into the temptation and read a few.

And this is where I realized how freaking close-minded and ignorant I was being, I was too busy judging it that I misinterpreted its whole meaning. No one, not in any fandom is saying that their characters are completely accurate, though people use the names of these idols and use their personas as a foundation that's about it. The writers don't write fanfiction to dictate what celebrities say rather they use them for inspiration and it’s actually kind of brilliant that fans can get inspired to do great things (and I say great because seriously a lot of the plots are just wow) at the thought of a band.

So, with that I can now write EXO fanfiction with a clear conscience.
