Song of the Night #1

To be honest, I'm not sure what to blog about, so I guess I'll start simply by blogging about songs I can't get out of my head.

The first song I'll try to introduce to those who haven't listened to it is Kang Seung Yoon's 'Stealer'. In Korean, the title is '맘도둑', which literally translates to 'Heart Thief'. (That's just my opinion though, if anyone can help justify this, I'll gladly comply.) Random insert, has anyone watched a movie titled 'The Thieves' (도둑들)? It features Kim Soo Hyun and Jun Ji Hyun of the famous drama 'You From Another Star'. I've heard that back then, these two had so much sizzling chemistry in 'The Thieves'. I'd say yes to that, because I did catch their famous kiss scene. Anyway, back to what I'm trying to say, I mentioned 'The Thieves' because in Korean, 'The Thieves' is pronounced "Do Duk Deul", and 'Stealer' is pronounced "Mam Do Duk". Basically the word "Do Duk" relates to a 'thief' or in Kang Seung Yoon's song, 'stealer'.

I can't believe I'm typing out all this when I'm supposed to be sleeping.

Before listening to this song, I had no idea who Kang Seung Yoon is. Background checks on him through searches revealed that he is the leader of a boyband called 'Winner', which is currently under YG, one of the big threes. So I've just discovered a new, handsome group. Somebody needs to remind me that I'm a VIXX fan..?

Anyway, this song is just so irresistible to me for reasons I don't understand why. I can't help putting it on repeat, because the way Seung Yoon-ssi sings it puts me in his shoes - love is about giving your heart to someone you can't stop thinking of. This song somehow strikes me as honest and pure. To others, he may just sound like another singer, but something in his voice makes me feel like I'm in his shoes, watching his story unfold. I love how his voice just goes from low to high notes like that. Okay, I need to remind myself that I'm a VIXX fan. *stares at VIXX poster for 5 minutes.

The way he repeats 'do duk' (도둑) three times in the chorus feels like he's pinning the blame on the girl for stealing his heart, yet at the end he sings 'cham joh da' (참 좋다) tells us that he is willing to let this girl keep his heart. Now who can resist such a sweet guy? Something about this song is kind of sweet, and not unlike a beautiful memory.

If you're interested, do listen to the song. I'm not sure about you, but I'll set this song will on repeat for weeks.

Thanks for reading. :)
