One time, Jihyo dated a younger guy and ended up being disappointed. Jihyo spend a lot of money on him but it turned out to be that the guy was only using her. Jihyo told Sohee that this is why older guys are more dependable and reliable, rather than young boys who only like to have fun and know no sense of responsibility. Since Sohee looks up to her aunt a lot, she believes what she advised and swears to never date a younger guy.

Their family are invovled in the technology business, producing new products and promoting them to investors. And so, through some of her dad's connections, he manages to convince a French-Korean investor on the condition that he needs to stay in France since that guy also lives there. It makes it easier for them to communicate and all. Sohee's dad decides to bring the whole family and they are all actually very excited to move to a foreign country. Sohee and her brother attends the rest of elementary and middle school there, and they had a hard time adjusting and fitting in at first. But after getting used to the culture and language, they starts to get too comfortable living as French people. These two are close because both of their parents are best friends, and the fact that Jungkook lives opposite to Sohee made them even closer. They started out as playmates, the first time Sohee exactly met Jungkook cannot be determined since they practically have been beside each other since diapers. They always like to play together, with Sohee always going to the playground and make other friends as well. These two are inseperable and they are never seen one without the other. Since Jungkook is the same age as Sohyung, these three spend a lot of time together as well. They choose to enter the same elementary school and that's when Sohee met Soojung as her newly assigned deskmate. The four of them plays together and is very close to one another, but Jungkook and Sohee shares this special bond that even anybody else can notice. One day, Jungkook and her made a promise, a promise to stay together till the end. Being the little kids they were, they made a promise to get married when they grew up. - long distance is just that hard :: At 8, Sohee and her family had to move to Paris and Sohee was really excited by the idea. She keeps on imagining going to a foreign school and befriending foreign kids would be so much fun. With a fluttering heart, she told Jungkook about the news. The reaction from her so called best friend was not what she expected. She had expected him to be happy for her too but Jungkook's face fall the moment he heard about her moving. She then realized that her friend might be sad with the whole news and that they wouldn't be able to play together like before. Sohee suddenly feels sorry for him since she's so thrilled by the idea of moving that she forgot about the fact that they won't be able to see each other anymore. She consoled him, telling him that she will not abandon him and all. She promised to write him letters and that they'll always talk on the phone and that nothing would change. He feels much better after hearing that and so sends her off the next day with a heavy heart. During the first few months, they did as promised, letters almost every week, talking on the phone almost every day. Sohee will always be the one to talk the most and Jungkook would feel happy just to hear her voice. But as time passed, keeping in touch with someone far from you gets harder and the letters started to decrease, phone calls started to become rare. The difference in time zone is not even helping but making it worse of course. And before they know it, they stopped talking, sending letters and soon just got further apart naturally.

She opens the door and the person who probably had missed her the most appears, with a dish in his hand. He rambles something of how his mother has something to give to Jihyo but as he looks up face to face with Sohee, he freezes. She's in the state as he is, shocked and happy at the same time. Their not so dramatic reunion was cut off short when Jihyo comes to the scene, curious as why it takes Sohee so long to greet whomever that came. She thanked him for the food and told him that she'll be giving the food container later. Jihyo shuts the door, leaving a still dumbfounded Sohee by the door. Jungkook was on the other side, he too was flustered by her sudden appearance.

- long distance is just that hard :: At 8, Sohee and her family had to move to Paris and Sohee was really excited by the idea. She keeps on imagining going to a foreign school and befriending foreign kids would be so much fun. With a fluttering heart, she told Jungkook about the news. The reaction from her so called best friend was not what she expected. She had expected him to be happy for her too but Jungkook's face fall the moment he heard about her moving. She then realized that her friend might be sad with the whole news and that they wouldn't be able to play together like before. Sohee suddenly feels sorry for him since she's so thrilled by the idea of moving that she forgot about the fact that they won't be able to see each other anymore. She consoled him, telling him that she will not abandon him and all. She promised to write him letters and that they'll always talk on the phone and that nothing would change. He feels much better after hearing that and so sends her off the next day with a heavy heart. During the first few months, they did as promised, letters almost every week, talking on the phone almost every day. Sohee will always be the one to talk the most and Jungkook would feel happy just to hear her voice. But as time passed, keeping in touch with someone far from you gets harder and the letters started to decrease, phone calls started to become rare. The difference in time zone is not even helping but making it worse of course. And before they know it, they stopped talking, sending letters and soon just got further apart naturally.
- a game called fate :: After many years, Sohee and Sohyung finally returns to Seoul despite feeling slightly unhappy with this idea still. Their aunt picks them up at the airport and they all went back to their old home, which now is lived by Jihyo. The day her parents moved out, they gave the house to her since they thought it's better off than to sell it. Sohee arrives with Sohyung and the only thing that makes Sohee calm is the presence of her aunt there. Not long after, the doorbell to the house rings and Jihyo asks for Sohee to take a look. She opens the door and the person who probably had missed her the most appears, with a dish in his hand. He rambles something of how his mother has something to give to Jihyo but as he looks up face to face with Sohee, he freezes. She's in the state as he is, shocked and happy at the same time. Their not so dramatic reunion was cut off short when Jihyo comes to the scene, curious as why it takes Sohee so long to greet whomever that came. She thanked him for the food and told him that she'll be giving the food container later. Jihyo shuts the door, leaving a still dumbfounded Sohee by the door. Jungkook was on the other side, he too was flustered by her sudden appearance.
"Jungkook?"
"Sohee?"
"Who is it?! God, why are you taking so long? Oh, it's you Jungkook!"
"Uh...uh...umma give you this."
"Oh yes. Thank you. Tell her I'll send this later, ok? Later then."
- how you've been all this time? :: Sohee keeps on asking Jihyo about Jungkook and she says that Jungkook still lives there even after all these years. She also mentions how Jungkook's mother takes good care of her by always sending food, maybe Sohee's parents asked them to somehow. Since their little encounter, Sohee cannot stop thinking about Jungkook. How he suddenly appears at the front door. How he's gotten way way taller than her. How he seems kind of cute. She takes the opportunity to return back the food container as an excuse to see him again. Thankfully, he is the one who opens the door and after a slight greeting with Jungkook's parents, Sohee asks Jungkook to take a walk with her. They become quite awkward at first, not seeing each other after all these years. But Sohee's affable approach makes him feel better and they start to tell each other what they've been missing out in each other's lives. They talk for quite some time, not realizing that they've missed each other that much. Though they still want to keep on talking, they part ways with a heavy heart. The next day, it is revealed that Jungkook and Sohee goes to the same high school and Sohyung reunites with Jungkook. He still manages to tease Jungkook that he couldn't possibly still like Sohee since she seems to move on over him, but it is more like a joke. Sohyung says that he doesn't need to go all heartbroken and that he'll introduce him to more girls after this.
- so what's next? :: They pretty much 'resume' their friendship and got even closer than ever. Sohee is having some serious heart problem though as she keeps getting butterflies and her heart pounding fast whenever Jungkook's around. She starts to get uncomfortable around him even when Jungkook used to be the one she can just tell anything to. She's always herself around him but lately, she starts to want to dress up and look pretty in front of him. Soojung notices this and confronts her, making Sohee realizing her true feelings for him (after several indenial moments). On Jungkook's side, he keeps on wanting to show that he's a man now, especially being part of the school's basketball team. He keeps on trying to impress Sohee and throws a tantrum like a little boy whenever he sees Sohee with some random guy. Sohyung's words about how she moved on keeps on ringing in his head and is the only thing preventing him from confessing. He's getting crazier by the second and Sohyung is the one who notices these changes. Although feeling disapproval of their relationship (it feels weird for his friend to be dating his nooona), he decides to team up with Soojung and pair these two together since he can't stand Jungkook being like a mad person. And so begins their plan to bring the two lovebirds together. Hopefully both Sohee and Jungkook remember to keep their promise when they are little.
