The Fanfiction Reader/Writer Questionnaire

State your fanfiction pen name.

Naturegal, though it might soon become Turtleyperson. I have naturegal13 on fanfiction.net, though please don't look it up! Those stories are just reeeeeeeeally icky... in a poorly written way.

Are you more of a reader or a writer?

60/40 with writing being what I do more. I love reading fanfics, but when I can't find what I'm craving for, I just decide to write it.

When did you first start reading/writing fanfiction?

Oh goodness... Reading when I was 13-ish. Writing? Um. When I was 14, I think? So couple years ago. But then I stopped for a while, and my comeback was last year.

What’s the first fanfiction you ever read/wrote? What is it about?

Read? Oh, only God knows that. It was too long ago. First one I wrote was called "Deserving and Wanting," only I ended up mispelling the title and didn't catch it for a whole year. About Harry Potter in an abusive relationship with Draco to the rescue. With . Excuse me while I cringe at even thinking about it.

What ratings do you read/write?

Anything. I used to only read mature stuff, because I was a hormonal teenager who was totally interesting in this foreign concept known as "ual desire," but now I don't really care what rating. I typically write only PG or PG-13 stuff, but I'll throw in a little when I feel that I actually can write it decently.

What was your first fandom?

I was hooked on HPDM stuff. Harry and Draco were destined for each other.

List all the fandoms you have read/written in.

Mostly, I read Infinite stuff, and Super Junior stuff, but you give me something good and it doesn't matter what fandom it's in. I only really write with Suju or Infinite, but I take requests for others.

What is your favorite fandom to read/write for?

Suju, because I feel like I can get the characters' personalities the way I want them easier.

Any fandom you would like to write in?

I want to try writing more cnblue stuff, because they're my absolute favorite band, but because they're my favorite band, I can never get their characters to live up to my image of them.

What was your first ship?

Harry and Draco, but in K-pop it was probably Eunhae. Suju was the first group I really got into, which is why my writing surrounds them.

List all the pairings you have read/written in.

(I'm only listing K-pop ones)

Read? Eunhae, Yewook, Kyumin, Myungyeol, Yadong, and Jonkey are the main ones, but I read a lot of obscure pairings too.

Write? All the main Suju pairings, all the main Infinite pairings, a pairing from BTS, Jonghwa, and I think that's it...

What is your favorite pairing to read/write for?

I really like Myungyeol because I have a lot of fun writing their personalities :D

Is there any pairing you refuse to read/write?

Myungjong. Nope. Just nope. Can't do it. And het stuff bores me.

What do you think of het stories? Slash/? Femslash/Yuri?

Can't read or write het stuff. As side pairings, sure, but main stuff nope. I get bored to tears by it. is my love. I'll read yuri, but I don't actively seek it out or anything. If I see it, find the description interesting, I'll give it a shot.

What is your favorite genre?

Any, if it's well written.. though... I really do have a sweet tooth.

What is your least favorite genre?

None in particular. I'm pretty good about keeping an open mind about what I read or write. I don't like to limit myself.

Any genre you would like to read/write for?

I wish I could write horror stuff, but my writing style just never fits within that genre.

List all of your favorite writers.

I'm sick and my brain feels fuzzy. The only ones I can think of off the top of my head is kp_bmw (because I love ya!) and OneWhoSitsWithTheTurtles (on fanfiction.net) and... I'm drawing a blank here. I have plenty on my subscribed authors tab, so check that out if you wanna know.

Which writer inspires your own work?

I don't really think many writers inspire me. They're awesome stories might motivate me to write, but most of my inspiration comes from music, or just something really random, like something someone said. Bloody Bride was inspired by a conversation with kp_bmw about how Twilight just doesn't make sense. How could Edward get Bella pregnant if there isn't blood in his body? Yeah. You figure out how that works.

What story has the most impact to you, so much that you remember it all the time?

I can't think of any one in particular, but I read a lot of stories that really get to me.

What is website you use most to read/write fanfiction?

AFF

Any certain things you avoid reading/writing about?

Het stuff and r*pe fics, though I'll read the latter if it's really, really, really well written.

What do you enjoy best about fanfiction in general?

I love how raw they are. They are literally open books into the minds of the author, whereas the stuff you get from stores have been filtered through at least two or three people, and were made mostly to be sold. I also love how close you can get to the author, how you can meet and become friends with your favorite authors.

Do you have any fanfiction pet peeves?

"Subscribers Only." I will never, ever read a story that's marked with this, nor will I ever make my stories subscribers only. Not using spell check is another, and making chapters less than 500 words in a multichaptered story.

Does the number of reviews tell how good a story is?

Not one bit. I've read some amazing stories that don't have many comments, and I've seen not so well written (underdeveloped stories is what I call them), that have tons and tons of comments.

How long should a chapter be?

When reading, I say more than 2,000 words but when I'm writing I typically limit it to around 5,000 words. In a oneshot, anywhere up to about 10,000. I read fast :P

Have you ever flamed someone?

Nope.

Have you ever been flamed?

A couple times on my other account on fanfiction.net. But since they never read more than the first chapter, I never really bothered with them.

Do you roleplay online?

No.

(Writers Only)

How many published fanfictions have you written?

Uh... 21. So 11 one-shots. 5 multichaptered stories. 2 anthologies. 3 on-going fics.

Which one of your fanfictions has the most words? The most views? The most comments? The most upvotes? How many?

Going by what's published? I Wish has the most words, with over 80,000 but half of that was writting by kp_bmw, in which case Pygmalion probably has that beat. Unpublished, no doubt Bloody Bride with 59,000 and still counting.

I Wish once again, with the most views and comments. 3740 and 84 respectively.

At the moment, which one of your fanfictions is your favorite/you are the most proud of? (you can include unpublished fanfictions)

Pygmalion. I wrote it three times, thought about it all the time, and cried when I finished it. I thought it was pure genius, and there was so much to it. I could write a post just as long as the story in all the little mentions of symbolism and the themes and everything.

Out of all characters you have written, which one do you feel you identify the most with?

Kyuhyun from Your Secret Admirer has my values, but I identify more with Jongwoon from Pygmalion (though in personality only. Not in experience) and Kyunhyun from Bloody Bride. I think the latter has my personality down exact, though that wasn't my plan. As I wrote, he just got closer and closer to me.

Do you use beta reader?

Nope.

What warnings have you used on your stories?

Lets see... I do warn about depression, suicide, mature themes and occasional bad grammar. I say that, but most of my gruesome stuff has fluffiness mixed in.

Do reviews affect how you write in any way?

Not really. I mean, I talk to kp_bmw a lot about certain stories and get her advice on what I haven't published. As for what I have published, I usually just put the thoughts in my back of my head.

What makes you happy the most as a writer?

Comments. Oh, God, the comments are amazing! I've teared up a few times because of a few of the comments :D when people write in their favorite line or scene from my story and say how much it touched them, I find it just wonderful.

Do you generally outline your fanfictions or do you prefer to write spontaneously then revise?

Usually I have point A and point B, and C but I don't have any idea how to get from point to point. And then sometimes I skip point C because I veer off and write point 2. I have certain parts in mind but I don't have anything outlined exactly. I do spend a lot of time thinking about it them.

Have you ever stolen something from another person’s work?

Nope. I might like the way someone wrote something, but if I do take it, I change it so much that it's nothing like what they wrote. In other words, I might be inspired by something but I don't directly steal it.

What do you feel is your biggest challenge when writing?

Keeping to one story, and finding time and motivation to write. Quite a few times I go through a period where I just don't like my writing, and nothing seems to be good enough, so getting through those is a challenge.

Do you have any certain ritual to do before/while/after you write?

I have to listen to music. And I crave certain genres for certain scenes in fics.

Do you actively advertise your story or request for reviews/upvotes?

Nope to both. I hate asking for reviews or upvotes, because I feel like those are gifts from the reader and to ask for gifts just feels wrong.

Would you ever want a trailer for a fanfiction you’ve written to be made?

It would be wonderful :D
