Respect People's Decision

There exists what's called freedom of speech.

People use it, but some abuse it.

Lately, the eyk business has spread all over the fanfiction world. The most affected site is LJ or livejournal and asianfanfics is only second. Why? That's because LJ houses the fanfics this fandom treasures most. Of course aff has produced a number of them and is continuing to produce many interesting fics at this moment. The only sad thing is, some people can't understand why other authors hide their fics while others deactivate.

Seriously, what's wrong with doing just that? Every author has the right to protect their fics if they want to. Popularity isn't the only factor that makes you a candidate for 'linking' or reccommending'. Does that mean if your fic isn't one of the popular ones that it takes away your right to set it to private?

NO

I can't understand people who are getting mad at authors who hide their fics.

And I can't find a reason why a missing story can ruin someone's life. I'm not basing anyone because there are a number of supporters and antis circling around aff. Even twitter is loaded with those kinds of posts. If you're a supporter of eyk, respect other people's actions because THEY DO NOT AFFECT YOUR WHOLE LIFE. Sooner or later, everything will go back to normal and the fics will be public again. Is that hard to understand?

As for those who keep cussing eyk for their 'not so nice comments' of mvs, think first before you spout nonsense. Expressing your opinions doesn't need to be in a degrading way. Heck, not all people can't even relate with what others are saying.

Personaly, I don't really care about eyk. I haven't even heard of them until this whole thing spread like wild fire. Users must understand that not all people respect a simple 'I don't want my fics to be linked to eyk'. Others are too hard headed and stubborn to respect those wishes. So that leaves authors no choice but to hide or set thier fics to a certain setting.

If you're fond of eyk, then go and support them all you like but please don't drag in those who want to live life in peace. If you don't like what eyk does, then that's your decision. As for me, I only privated my fics because I don't really want other people outside aff to know about them. If you've read some of them, they're not really for close-minded people because of the matured content.

Again, popularity doesn't measure a fanfic's quality. All of us miss authors who write like they're J.K Rowling or    Nicholas Sparks because no one appreciates what they write. If anyone complains about disappearing fics of their favorite author and they can't read the same content of that pairing, then make your own. It doesn't matter if you think your writing is still premature. Great authors start from the bottom, until they rise and get recognized.

Respect others and they'll respect you back.

I may not make sense right now, but that's my opinion on this whole thing. Respect other people's decision. As for me, you can bash me all you want or agree with me. I don't really care if anyone cusses me. I've been through harder situations to be affected by an immature comment.

also, be patient. Everything will be over soon.

That's all.

I really like EYK but I also respect your point of view. Do what you think is best, you're the author of the stories after all, don't about everyone else, but I'll support you

Yeah. I don't mind EYK; I've watched many of their videos and I like them. But when I saw this news I got a little scared, just as you said, my stories also have mature content and I don't really want people to judge me on it. Not EYK, but other people. The reason why I write here is because not many people will judge me for it. Over here on AFF I can express myself freely, write whatever I want and people like to read it. It's amazing that over here we have people all over the world to talk to, to listen to, and to read whatever comes out of our imaginations. I'm not going to bash EYK, because I've been following them for a few years and honestly fanfiction is a big topic and I understand why they would like to do a segment on it.

EYK aren't bad people at all; many people talk about fanfictions. They are just the first to really step out and talk about K-Pop fanfiction. I think a lot of people are scared about this, but EYK DID say that they would of course get the author's permission and I believe that. I don't think we have much to worry about honestly.

It's sad to.see some leave I get really sad but I think some people are just too much of a drama queens I mean they should respect their author's decision
But some judge too fast ego explained the whole think and said they dun do anything unless they have a permission
Is it me? Or people are too much these days?

I don't understand this either. If an author wants to private his/her fics, readers should try to understand their point of view at least before they bash said author for no reason. Honestly, I'm not an EYK fan so I do not want my fics send to them and I don't care what reason they have, I still don't want my readers linking my stuff to people who I don't even like. I think some authors were a bit harsh on Simon and Martina, but others did have valid reasons for not wanting their stuff sent out.

Just because we post them on Asianfanfics, we don't want them posted outside AFF. AFF is more of a place, where I feel most comfortable posting my KPop fics is all.

I don't know why some people on AFF are so scared if there is something like "subscribers-only", "members-only" and even users can make their stories as drafts. There is one story I like a lot and I don't understand why the author decided to use invitations. I just don't know why people are so scared while there are options which will protect their stories.
I deleted all of my stories some months ago, because I wanted to start my adventure as a writer again, so my stories would be better. But if they had been there, I would just use "members-only" or "subscribers-only". If it comes to invitations... I think some people overreacted, really.

I've seen posts here in aff saying that authors are overreacting and are being silly, cowardly, etc. Most of those comments come from non-writers. I don't think they should have a say since they are not writers, they will not see it from a writer's perspective. It's none of their business what authors do with their stories. Authors only have the sole right what to do with them. And authors are hiding fics not just from eyk and eyk's followers. They hid them because readers can't understand no. It doesn't matter if eyk will ask permission. Author already said no. No means no.

And those authors who don't mind getting their fics out there, then good for them. Not all of them wants to be famous. Some just want to be reviewed. But they shouldn't expect others to do the same. Likewise, we shouldn't question their motives for wanting their fics to be recommended.

You're a very wise person. I am such a casual, outside the community, writer that I don't understand the big deal at all. I understand the issues you mentioned ARE a big deal for many and I respect that.
The world would be a better place if we learned to respectfully disagree with each other. Well heck, if we learned respect! :) We need more people like you.
I also love how encouraging you are to other authors. It's okay if one's writing isn't what others would consider very good. Becoming a good writer is a process that should never end. =)
