Random Review #1- U-KISS Tick Tack

First off everyone, watch that video :)

Now to the review..

Alright so first of all I’m writing this in a document first so that if my browser crashes again, I won’t have to rewrite everything >.<

And I really shouldn’t be writing this now anyways, but you know, procrastination + laziness=doing absolutely nothing and blogging.

Now, I am a fan of the group and have known them for awhile. I really like their older music and their recent album Neverland.

When I first heard this song I thought it was catchy and wanted to listen to it again. And now, I can finally say I recognize the two members, AJ and Hoon, who replaced Alexander and Kibum earlier this year. I couldn’t really recognize them before this, perhaps I was still in denial....

Little notes first:

-I’m glad Kiseop has lines in this song too! It seems his “curse” so to speak, has worn off. However....Eli doesn’t have many lines. To be more accurate, Kiseop has two lines and Eli has one besides his rap. I like Eli’s one line though, even though I don’t quite know what he says. It’s in English, but it’s one of those lines that are hard to understand. (Example: TVXQ Keep Your Head Down- Changmin’s english line)

-Wait wait wait, let me fix what I said before. Kiseop has 2 lines and a word. ....Yep you got that right. He has two lines and then he says “Tonight” as an interjection.

-Now even though the title of the song is “Tick Tack” I’m questioning if that was intentional or if it’s supposed to be like “Tick Tock?” In the chorus where they say the phrase it seems like Tick Tock but it would just be that the title of the song and the words that they say are different. Minor detail.

-ALSO, they have two different versions of this on youtube. One is on Avex and one is on their official youtube page. It was really confusing to me, so if some of the stuff I have written is ....not really matching then it’s because at first I was just looking at one video and then remembered there was another.

-Hoon’s body spazzes when singing the long note with Soohyun. ...I may be exaggerating but I really noticed it the first time I watched the video, it was pretty noticeable xD Just a little odd to me.

Music Video:

Doesn’t really have a plot or story. They dance in front of a giant clock, which seems fitting for the name of the song “Tick Tack,” Like tick tock tick tock.....tick tock tick tock....tick tock....

Then they switch to dance in another room that is uniquely lit.

It looks like a kind of depressing and sad atmosphere, their solo singing shots is in a gray, rundown room that just looks dreary. They are doing that thing that they did in “0330” again, they have some shots where they are all sitting in a sad room together. Kevin is near the window again.

Fashion + Hair:

Matching outfits as usual. Silver suits. They all seem to wear the white studded gloves sometime in the video for their solo shot. (At least I know Soohyun, Dongho, Eli (for his one singing part...), and Hoon do) Then they change into black vests, black pants, and white shirts when they are dancing in the other uniquely lit room.

Their hair is mostly dark black or brown in the video, with the exception of Kevin, who still has this kind of light brown-blonde-brown hair. (Seriously talking here, I’m sure Dongho has had the same haircut for ....forever. That bowl haircut... Wait, maybe he has had one other.)

Dance:

I think the dance is one of those that will be easy to catch on to and therefore, popular. This song would probably be more popular if it was released in Korea and promoted there, but it’s a Japanese song. I hope they come out with a dance version of the song.

Their dance break near the end of the song was very similar to Neverland, which I thought was really good. So I liked this dance break too, even though it was less powerful and shorter than Neverland’s.

Rap:

Powerful rap by AJ, Eli, and Dongho. The rap in the song is pretty stong and there’s nothing that jumps out at me. However, when AJ starts the rap, I think it’s especially strong because the beat. Dongho and AJ have more lines than Eli, and Dongho even has a kind of solo rap after the first triplet rap. (Haha triplet rap)

I’ve noticed that Kevin seems to have less lines in this songs. Hoon is definitely taking a more present role in the vocal area. (Personally I like it when Kevin has more lines, but it’s good to give members a break sometimes.) Speaking of breaks, Soohyun is still the prominent vocal in the group and has not received a break when it comes to singing many lines and high/long notes.

That’s all, yep that’s all for the first review!
I hope to do DBSK reviews with ramensaur in the future too (haha)
