Now, ever since this morning when I checked into AFF like I like to do before going to school, I noticed two belongs by friends of mines on here that had to do with the same interesting topic. Simon & Martina, known as EatYourKimchi on YouTube as I see a lot of you know since they do kpop stuff, have recently made a tweet having to do with sharing kpop Fanfiction with them. When I first checked out their tweet in my mind I thought something along the lines of “Oh, well that’s interesting, wonder what they have in mind to do with Fanfiction :)” so I thought the idea of the two doing something with Fanfiction was cool considering the fact Martina herself likes to read Fanfiction having been saying she’s been reading lots of Loki related Fanfiction lately in their videos and live chats.

But then when I went to go check out the friend blog post they said they did not want anything to do with EatYourKimchi and this whole Fanfiction fiasco. That got me wondering and curios about what others on the site thought about the matter as well. So throughout the day while I was at school I went on my phone checking out the latest blogs that people have been posting, and not gonna lie, I was kind of amazed or surprised I guess by what everyone is saying in their blogs and in the comments, and they’re all pretty much the same thing too. Things like:

EYK can be rude & disrespectful

They don’t like the idea or are uncomfortable about it

Saying to do not share their fics with them

How they’ve put their stories on lock down till the situation goes underway

How they were scared or afraid of them reading their stuff

There were even people who don’t know who Simon & Martina are and feel like doing the same just because the majority of people are doing so

And so forth

So, when I read all these types of things my mind just…I couldn’t believe it. Why is like everyone just going against Simon & Martina like that? Now not everyone is and I’ve seen a few blog post of people that are kind of like indifferent on the matter in a way you could say. And they said things like:

They’re mad that the kpop fandom is bashing EatYourKimchi

Or how people seem to just be overreacting way too much

And I have to say that I would have to side with those people. Now before I continue anything I just want to say anything I’m about to say, I don’t mean to be rude, mean, or disrespectful in anyway, or I’m at least trying not to.

So, to start off I just want to say that everyone is different, I would love to say that I am able to understand the situation in your shoes but I really can’t. And from my perspective it seems like people are freaking out way too much it would seem. Like the majority of people saying they don’t want anyone to send their fanfics in are acting like the world will freaking end if Simon & Martina will read their stories. Putting things on lockdown and stuff. And some don’t like it so much that they are deleting their stories and accounts just because of it. I get that you’re upset about it but…don’t you think that’s going a bit too far just to get rid of your stuff all together? To me that doesn’t really seem necessary. Also why so much hate on Simon & Martina as well, it’s like they’re your parents that won’t give you what you want then you go on strike because of it or something like that. I do remember about the BBB music Monday they made and reading the comments to see people disappointed that BTOB wasn’t actually included and how Martina called B.A.P making the fans very upset but…you gotta understand…human beings have opinion and sometimes I feel like some people can forget that at times. Now I  know that you can have the opinion/right to not like the material made by EYK, but it seems like people are just like bashing and hating on Simon & Martin themselves for not such great reasons…plus Simon & Martina are human being just like you and me too. Also their job isn’t really to just please you, for example if Martina were to say “I love B.A.P when their crying and not have hardcore songs” because it wouldn’t be the true. The point of Kpop Music Monday, I think/believe, the reason behind it is for the two to review and criticize the music videos from a serious type of view, not only that from their standpoint, which brings back the talk of opinions, theirs might be different from yours and that’s ok because like I said before everyone is different. So I guess what I’m trying to get at here is that you shouldn’t just hate on Simon & Martina themselves but I guess their opinions instead?...I confuse myself…But anyway, like people even said that they say harsh things that just make them stop being fans of EYK altogether. Now I have been a fan of Simon & Martina ever since they came out with the Super Junior M ‘Perfection’ Music Monday, which I believe was 2011 can’t really remember, and I think they’re still the same Simon & Martina now as they were back then. I’m a loyal fan that thinks their stuff is still funny, epic, and awesome. And going back to the B.A.P thing, I even have a friend in real life that feels the same way Martina does, in the fact that she dislikes it when B.A.P doesn’t have a cool hardcore song, heck, I used to even be that way myself! Till I came to the fact that I’m ok with groups doing whatever kind of song they want, but I still do prefer certain groups to do certain types of styles I think fit them best. Also my friend I believe still has that opinion and at first, not gonna lie, I didn’t like how she said she didn’t really like their song ‘Coffee Shop’ because of the slow pace but I’ve learned to live with that because that’s from her standpoint. So yeah…

On a side note though, like I mention way up at the top, I think the idea of Simon & Martina doing something Fanfiction related is actually really cool. So something that actually ticks me off about this is that I feel as if some authors on here are speaking as if they are speaking for every author on the site which may not be the case, at least in my case it’s not. Like I’m totally ok with authors telling their readers and others not to send their stories to EYK but when some people say just to not send any fanfics at all, or that they shouldn’t be doing this at all, I don’t really know how to feel about that. Since to me I am on neutral ground with this situation so I don’t give a care, which I tend to not really care about many things, so I wouldn’t mind at all that Simon & Martina use my Fanfiction, heck they can do whatever they want with my stories…except, you know, steal it. A skit, reading it, talking about it, or reviewing it, whatever! And speaking on the topic of reviews and stuff, lots of the authors that said they don’t want to be a part of this said something like EYK being harsh and not wanting their stories talked badly about by them. No matter what, bad things cannot fully just go away, plus how do you know for sure what they’ll do will be bad? Just because from your standpoint you don’t like how they talk about kpop doesn’t mean they’ll be the same way with Fanfiction. Also something some authors said was that they were sensitive when it comes to the topic of Fanfiction and writing. Now like before, everyone is different, and to you it may seem sensitive, but to me I see Fanfiction as being a fun get away from the world, write whatever you want whatever it may be. Plus if Simon & Martina were to review it some way I’ll just take what they say as a way to improve my writing skills and know what I do best, or if they were to turn it into a funny skit, heck, I would laugh along with them! So yeah…I think I got my point across...hopefully

But seriously, what I’m trying to put across her is that everyone has their own opinions, standpoints, and the way they look at or think about something. And since we’re all different people we may not all agree of stuff together. I just feel like…people need to chill out for a bit and take a deep breath, it’s not the end of the world. And I don’t think Simon & Martina are trying to be mean or harsh on purpose, the way they talk is just straightforward I would say.

Also all that I said was not to be mean or rude in anyway, and also we are our own person, ok? I’m not trying to get anyone to change their mind or anything like that by saying you’re kind of overreacting or something like that. You are you, what you do with your stories is your decision, and what I do with my stories is my decision, and no one else’s. Do what you do and don’t let anyone else take charge of you :)

Which is why I give full permission to EatYourKimchi to use my stories for whatever type of video they plan on making (mostly my stories like E.X.O University since my readers really like that one though I need to edit some things around…or maybe even Spiled Brat or Healing Chiyu though really I couldn't care which one) and something I will do is put my Recommendations story on draft just in case EYK is browsing my stories, because I don’t want any of those authors like getting mad at me if they see those so…yeah…

My whole blog post rant is done, and thank you to those that actually read it all :) And tell me, what are your thoughts on the whole EYK situation? How do you feel about it and what thoughts are going through your head at it all? I would actually really love to hear your OPINIONS on the matter if you are in favor of it or not in favor?
