Usually, blogs that are titled as "applications" refer to people applying for positions in certain types of fanfictions. Basically, you create a character for the author to use in their story (the majority of these types are idol group ones, so your character would be a member of the group). They're pretty fun, so I would suggest checking a few out if you're interested ^-^ (Just search "apply" and look through the newest ones)

Role-play on AFF could be that you play a certain character and you write about what they would do being in their shoes. Its kind of like drama where you have to take on the persona of a different person.

Certain authors have stories, but not characters. If you want to be in the story and its an apply fic, you can make up a person. They can be anyone and you can have the do anything. Usually its for a girlgroup. They are fun to do and the authors usually are helpful.

Tbh, I'm not sure about the first one.
But in roleplay here, you play an idol. You act as a certain idol. There are different kinds of roleplay, such as Facebook Roleplay, Twitter Roleplay, AFF Roleplay, etc.
Facebook Roleplay, as you may have guessed, takes place on Facebook. You create an account under the name of an idol and act as them, and interact with people in your certain roleplay.
Twitter Roleplay, takes place on Twitter. You create a Twitter account under the name of your chosen idol, and play as them, interacting with people in your roleplay, and etc.
