Getting Noticed Or Scouted In The Entertainment Industry:

To be scouted= to be casted on the streets = you need to look good. No, you don’t need to be wearing designer clothing every time you step out of the house, but make yourself presentable. That being said, some people just happen to have the “STAR AURA,” as casting directors put it, so they don’t even have to look good at the time.

Timing is key. Luck is key. However, there are ways to improve your luck. The easiest way?

SIGN YOURSELF UP WITH YOUTUBE, and get yourself out there. A few months ago, SM came across a video of an amazing dancer on youtube. Not surprisingly, SM invited her down for a private audition. Youtube works. Do it. Sign yourself up in the SOUTH KOREA category.

Secondly…live in LA. The SM office is there. That means the casting directors are there also, and if they happen to see you and like you, then you are on the right track.

Thirdly…attend Kpop events. Most of these take place in CA and NYC, but they happen all over the US as well. Kollaboration is a popular one. One ex- trainee (who quit SM in her own free will) was scouted at the Korean American Thanksgiving Festival in Corona Park, New York. She is now a student at the Berklee College of Music. If you can get into Berklee, then you can get into SM 
Fourthly…attend a school where there is a very high Korean American or Asian American population. Sometimes SM representatives like to sit in on these school’s talent shows without anyone inviting them.

Up to now, I have only been concentrating on the US. If you are going to Korea, then try these things:

a) Hang around the parts of Korea where the idols live! That’s literally the easiest thing you can do.

b) Go to SM’s everysing Karaoke. Record yourself singing to one of the tracks, and then send it in.

c) Yes..go ahead, you can plant yourself outside of the SM building. Just don’t look weird. If you see a famous person, don’t go crazy. It’s actually better to pretend that you don’t know them.

d) Go to the popular shopping malls and streets. Try Coex!
