So, I finally got my EunHae albums in the mail.
Which means I got two new photocards, and I'm so happy I could cry righ'now.
Yeah I got two Donghaes again, but you know what? IT'S OKAY. Because these aren't IDENTICAL (like with I Wanna Dance (no I'm still not over it)), and these two were two of my four favorites out of the photocards possible. Seriously though, I'm so happy. I fangirled and made inhuman noises and I think my friend briefly questioned if I was gonna die or not.
As for the album (song-wise), I was honestly surprised. I'm the type of person that can admit when an album isn't too good, if it seems rushed, or if it's just a half-assed job altogether; however, this album altogether, completely BLEW my frickin' MIND. It is, in my honest opinion, the best SJ-related release I've heard as a whole in a very long time (probably since 3jib). There are no filler songs, each song stands out on its own. It has some of everything on it, I swear; want something with a catchy beat and loud guitar? Bari 5. Want something slower with soft vocals and acoustic guitar? Teenage Queen. Want a little more of that disco flavor that not even Oppa, Oppa can satisfy on it's own? Kiss Kiss Dynamite. Need a good dance song? Android Syndrome. Want somethin a tad ridiculous but fun? Motorcycle. Seriously, the list could go on and on.
Another thing I really like about it is that EunHae are pretty much on par vocal-wise. I mean, Donghae has a tiny bit more in the way of range and overall technique, but it's not such a big gap that he drowns Eunhyuk out; and with that being said, Eunhyuk actually sounds like he's been improving quite a bit, and I've always had a soft spot for his singing voice in general (seriously his part in Opera after Kyuhyun IT KILLS ME EVERYTIME). What's good about this though is that it means that neither one will outshine the other in a song; neither of them have powerhouse vocals, but they're good at what they do, they know it, and they don't try to push it too far out of their comfort zones. There is no power struggle between the two like I hear in a lot of other music with two singers, and I like that. I like how easily each voice slips into the other, how they harmonize really well together, and how well they just...match.
Honestly though, this album gives me hope even when I know it shouldn't. I know that SM isn't responsible for the Japanese releases, Avex is, so hoping for somerthing this good to come of SJ's next comeback is just asking for disappointment, but I can dream. I can also hope that Team Onesound has a hand in SJ's upcoming comeback because they also played a part in EunHae's album aND JUST HATS OFF TO YOU, PETER, SKY, AND JINOO, YOU GUYS HAVE MADE THE YEAR LOOK PROMISING ALREADY TO ME.
Okay, so I think I've ranted enough about this ._. but really, even if you can't buy the album, download it or something. It's just that good; and keep in mind, this is coming from an ELF who's been disappointed in a lot of SJ's albums as a whole (though I did like y Free & Single quite a bit (I just feel weird saying that because title >.>)).
But I've come to the decision that my favorite song on Ride Me is probably Bari 5. Not even kidding, that song blew me apart into a mess of feels. Let It Go and Android Syndrome are probably tied for second, and Teenage Queen is probably in third. But ugh, so good I could cry ._.
(Sorry about any typos/nonsense. I had to take a pain pill so I'm not...all here >.>.)
