〈 APPEARANCE 〉 Mirae stands at a short 165 cm and weighs 52 kg. She thinks that her best physical trait is her skin. Even in her preteen years, she hasn't even had one pimple and is proud to be so unblemished. Her hair is a golden brown color that is naturally straight. She is book smart and street smart, being able to write a flawless essay explaining the philosophical aspects of The Art of War and preventing her purse to get stolen on the subway. Mirae is always used to getting straight A's and was the valedictorain of her high school. However, no matter how hard she tried, her sister Misoo is always one step ahead of her.
The only thing that urges her to study at one AM, to skip lunch and head to the library, to distance herself from her peers... is her sister. Her one dream, her one goal in life was to outshine her. She had always been known as 'Misoo's dongsaeng' and she hated it. Because of her antisocial ways, she is very wary of people who approach her. This is why she hasn't made any friends in the two years she had attended Jeon Won.
In class, Mirae sits in the front but doesn't talk at all. She just scribbles notes and listens intently to her professors' lectures while others nod off. Her classmates know that she is the smartest one in the room, but is too afraid to approach her for help because of her stone like, expressionless face. Mirae isn't unfriendly, she just can't display her emotions well. Her only outlet is singing, but no one knows or expects such an angelic, passionate voice to come from what they view to be a marble statue.
〈 BACKGROUND 〉 Ever since she was little, she always had one thought: omma and appa love Misoo more than me. Her noona, who was two years older than her, had been the first priority of the family. Mirae's father was a office worker and her mother was a high school teacher, so she came from fairly humble origins. Her parents always had a ton of work to do, but they were never too busy for Misoo. When Misoo had a piano recital, they were in the front row. At Misoo's graduation, they cried, yelling proudly that their daughter was the valedictorian. And finally, when Misoo received a college letter offering her a full ride to Yonsei University, they invited family from all over the country to come to dinner.
And where were they when Mirae needed them?

The first year of highschool was when Mirae snapped. She decided that her only purpose in life now was to beat her sister. However, no matter how hard she worked, her parents didn't notice. They were already too blinded by how bright Misoo had shined. Four years passed and Mirae had been doing just as great as her sister did in high school. It wasn't until her senior year that everything came crashing down. Her world stopped spinning when she received a rejection letter from the one and only, Yonsei University.
Although she had gotten accepted into many other bigshot colleges, Mirae didn't go to any of them. She wanted to run away from Seoul, from everyone who knew her as 'Misoo's little sister'. She had gotten sick of her teachers in high school beaming at her, telling her how much they enjoyed having her older sister in class. She was tired of how everyone assumed she was smart because of Misoo. Intelligence wasn't genetic; you have to work for it.
That's why Mirae decided to attend a college she hasn't even heard of. She would take some time away from family and Misoo, coming back new and improved.
〈 LIFESTYLE 〉 Mirae lives in a dorm by herself. She is the only student who gets this option since Jeon Won was very delighted that she chose to attend. Her dorm is also more isolated from the others, per her request. This way, no one could hear her play songs on her keyboard and sing when she got too stressed. She practically cut off all family ties when she decided to enter Jeon Won so she doesn't get any calls or visits. Mirae goes to a tiny cafe/diner to eat all her meals since she doesn't know how to cook.

Misoo would always try to get her parents and others to treat Mirae just like she was treated, but it never worked. Mirae felt bad for hating her sister but she couldn't help it. He is actually pretty smart and got kicked out on purpose once he discovered that the college only accepted him because his father bribed them (he's a chaebol). Baekhyun and Mirae knew each other from high school because he used to date Misoo. Mirae doesn't like her older sister but they were still related and she remembered how much Misoo cried after finding out Baekhyun cheated on her. This is why Mirae is extra 'cold' towards Baekhyun, which confuses him since he doesn't know the reason behind her attitude. They had a class together where they got partnered up which is where they officially met. Baekhyun thought Mirae was cute and wanted to hook up with her. Imagine his surprise when Mirae acted in total disgust towards him! However, they start to get closer and eventually become friends. He is also the first to discover her talent.
