Planning fanfics

It's honestly so weird... I haven't written an actual fic for so long >< I just added a story that I was going to use for my writer's craft EXAM B (and changed the names), and now I'm doing a chaptered fic with Kris.

I think I have a thing for people with names that start with 'K'... Key and now Kris....

I'm honestly just curious, do you guys plan everything about your fics first or do you just write and let the ideas come in the process?

I planned this, but every time I try to type it up it goes in a different direction. Is there a way to plan? I feel like it's fortune-telling... like telling the future. I don't know what's going to happen until I'm in the process of writing...

Meh, just an insight...

But if you have any opinion on this let me know, I'm interested to see who actual plans (please tell me how) and who just writes :)

My story isn't planned, it's made up of ideas i just think of during the day. I think it is a good thing to plan though, it avoids making your story messy. I f you are planning to just write as you go, write down notes you think you would need to know for your future chapters.

I fall somewhere in the middle. I try to plan and I have so idea where the story is going before I start but once the writing flow kicks in the story always goes off in a different direction. So I am always reevaluating the overall plan as I go along. Things always turn out better when you let it flow naturally, but without any plan whatsoever it usually ends up being a hot mess of plot holes and dead ends so...
