Kay guys I'm trying to get into making trailers and video editing (since I have a book trailer project for english) and I am having one hell of a time trying to get iMovie to work. 

My videos that I want to use won't show up even after I import them and I'm not quite sure what to do.

I tried to download a trial of Sony Vegas Pro since I've heard good things about it, but all I got was a bunch of jibberish when I opened it. (Like it opened in TextEdit rather than as an application and it was all symbols)

I don't know what to do guys~!

Can someone help me please? I'd be eternally greatful.
