Personality: Having been raised by her grandparents, she was taught to be kind, caring, understanding, polite and obedient to everyone, especially to those older than her. She is able to keep calm even under extreme pressure and handle sutiations well, so she is seen as the leader. She appears cold to strangers at first, but once she gets to know and trust them, she is really very friendly and outgoing. She considers herself a cool tomboy because she doesn't wear feminine clothes like skirts and dresses with heels often, opting for shirts, jeans, and converse instead, but she looks absolutely gorgeous when she does. Her happy image changes when she is performing, playing sports, or doing martial arts, becoming extremely serious and competative. Whenever her instinct tells her there is danger like around someone with bad intentions, she becomes very protective over people, expecially those she cares about and those younger than her, and will use martial arts to protect them when necessary, even risking her own life to save them if the situation calls for it. Background: Born on July 9, 1994 in Corpus Christi, Texas, she is the daughter of now-deceased Mexican singer Selena Quintanilla and her husband Chris Perez. They were a happy family until March 31, 1995 when her mother was murdered by her fan-made-friend Yolanda Saldivar, an event that caused her father to move back in with his father in San Antonio in 1996 and turn to drugs and alcohol. Because of this, her paternal grandfather decided to send her to Lake Jackson, Texas where her maternal grandparents lived to be raised for fear of his son hurting his granddaughter, and to also give a bit of life to the extremely depressed father of his granddaughter's mother. His idea worked and she has lived there ever since, as her father remarried in 2001 and had two children before divorcing her in 2008, completely forgetting he had another daughter.

How Do You Get Into SM?: After much begging with her grandparents, she was able to auditon in Los Angeles during the SM Global Auditons of 2012 and got accepted when she was 17 years old.

Trainee Life: Having her family in Texas, she was only allowed to stay and train because her uncle lives in LA for his work. During her training, she was considered "top of her class" due to her previous years of training with her grandfather since she was 8, and this plus the fact that she was a "favorite" because she was the first Hispanic to be accepted caused the other trainees to be extremely jealous and bullied her. At one point, the bullying got so bad that she called her family in Texas in tears, but they convinced her to stay strong since she admitted it was her dream, and she confronted the bullies face to face and told them that she will never back down, and they left her alone after that.
