Just how screwed up is our society's education system?

Every day on twitter, when I scroll through my feed, I see countless of tweets saying- " school" Or " I ing hate Mondays" then I question myself, Why aren't students enjoying education? I'm a student no doubt and I'm not afraid to admit that I'm drowning in my pile of homework and projects, it's irrefutable that I've a certain dislike for school that was amalgamated by the stress and expectations. Wasn't learning supposed to be happy? Why is it now that many students hate learning? They find it a chore and stuff. Just what are the expectations and boundaries of our society? What is considered a decent grade in their eyes? An A*? An A? and having any grades lower than that is unacceptable? It's really ing ridiculous how our education system is- it's a continuous enervated rat race. There is only one top spot and we have like millions competition for it, not everybody can be at the top there would definitely be people at the bottom- you win some, you loose some, you can't always be at the top. And what about those students at the bottom? Why are they looked down upon? Why are they being insulted at? Do you think they chose to be there?

I'm a student with grades slightly above average and in my country, it's hell. The amount of homework and test they issue just because you're slightly smarter than others are just , I feel like a zombie with a mere 4-5h of sleep daily and my weekends are taken up by revision and homework, leaving me no time to rest at all.  What are the societally values that attribute to such an insane behavior? Why are they robbing us of our childhood and youth?  Isn't learning supposed to be fun? Why is it that students are starting to hate school? Why is it that students dread Mondays so much? If a 2 day "break" for students aren't enough to recuperate from the 5 days of school and they dread it so much, isn't there something wrong with our education system?

My next question would be: Are you also caught up in this rat race too?

I like school. But not the values they teach us. My teachers are awesome, but not the whole education system. Not society.

This blog post is just... I'm speechless. I can't agree more with you. I can't seem to understand some of my friends who whine and complain and just say all that negative things about going to school. How bad is school? Although at some point, I do feel fed up about the education system and that ritual path you're compelled to go through but it's a way to go through with life but that's just at one point.

Even though studying and going to school can be really draining and make you crazy busy with lack and sleep and all, I actually still like school. And I bet that it'll be your most precious memories when you grow older in the future when the real problem kicks in. Financial problem, family problem, career problem, place of stay etc...

I think most students are just too stressed out with grades and they want to get straight As and beat everyone else. If only you try to enjoy going to school and learning new things and accepting the grades you get, you will actually going to school with a different mindset and energy.

I feel you. This blog post is inspiring but to answer the question, yes, I'm caught up with this race. I believe everyone is trying to catch up in this never-ending race, and I am too. I'm trying :A

Yes totally. Not sure about you, but im from singapore. And the education system here . Like seriously . I got into a good secondary school, and they just treat you like a goddamn genius and throws you piles of homework without even explaining much. And when you cant catch, they just assume that you arent working hard enough. Sometimes i wonder if they really understand us, just because we dont score well, does that REALLY mean that we're not working hard enough? Can't it be because we seriously cant catch up?
Ugh sorry for the long post, im just so frustrated with the society. And sometimes i wonder how's it like being an idol, since they dont have to fret about stupid As T_T
