Just how screwed up is our society's education system?
Every day on twitter, when I scroll through my feed, I see countless of tweets saying- " school" Or " I ing hate Mondays" then I question myself, Why aren't students enjoying education? I'm a student no doubt and I'm not afraid to admit that I'm drowning in my pile of homework and projects, it's irrefutable that I've a certain dislike for school that was amalgamated by the stress and expectations. Wasn't learning supposed to be happy? Why is it now that many students hate learning? They find it a chore and stuff. Just what are the expectations and boundaries of our society? What is considered a decent grade in their eyes? An A*? An A? and having any grades lower than that is unacceptable? It's really ing ridiculous how our education system is- it's a continuous enervated rat race. There is only one top spot and we have like millions competition for it, not everybody can be at the top there would definitely be people at the bottom- you win some, you loose some, you can't always be at the top. And what about those students at the bottom? Why are they looked down upon? Why are they being insulted at? Do you think they chose to be there?
I'm a student with grades slightly above average and in my country, it's hell. The amount of homework and test they issue just because you're slightly smarter than others are just , I feel like a zombie with a mere 4-5h of sleep daily and my weekends are taken up by revision and homework, leaving me no time to rest at all. What are the societally values that attribute to such an insane behavior? Why are they robbing us of our childhood and youth? Isn't learning supposed to be fun? Why is it that students are starting to hate school? Why is it that students dread Mondays so much? If a 2 day "break" for students aren't enough to recuperate from the 5 days of school and they dread it so much, isn't there something wrong with our education system?
My next question would be: Are you also caught up in this rat race too?
