My Adventures in RPing

So I've been RPing every once in a while for the past month or so, one on here and a couple on Roleplay Republic and both have their pros and cons. And I know people usually hate the affroleplay type stuff, mostly because there is RR now, but it does have it's benefits. Because the one that I joined a month or so back was a lot more friendly and proactive about RPing than the ones on RR.

On AFF, people will usually just ask if you want to roleplay and you'll do it. While on RR, you may get one or two people to ask if you're lucky while you have to go ask people on your own. So while on AFF I could be roleplaying with about 10 or so people, on RR, it was a lot less. And it makes sense since there are lots of roleplays on RR and people are busy, but I also think it's because people sign up for like 10+ roleplays and expect to contribute to every one, usually having to quit after a week or so. And it's kind of y because I only sign up to 2-3 max and expect people to kind of go around and ask to RP. I know I have to do some asking around and I usually do, but then others will either ignore it or will RP once or twice and then never reply back, which .

So in that regard, I can see why people like to RP on AFF. The people are generally friendlier and willing to just RP with anyone, while everyone on RR will just want to roleplay with their OTP. And I never get to roleplay my OTPs since everyone wants to ship EXO with EXO or EXO with a girl group member and no one else. And it's not like I can make a blogpost about it since no one would read it anyway, so it's a lost cause. (I really just want to make some myungxing happen, but it never does... Sad life right there.)

I like the ideas of rooms on RR where you get your own rooms, but I also like usuing a character's wall a lot better since you can see your whole history for plots. So while rooms can be awesome, I also think they're kind of stupid. Plus, they really only seem to work well when it comes to those one liner roleplays and I dislike those. If I'm going to RP, then I am at least going to do semi-para, but even then, I'm more comfortable doing para/multi-para RPs and those are even harder to find.

I also only like to RP with certain characters and they most interesting RPs usually always take the characters I like to use. I like to use Myungsoo, Jongdae, and an occasional Yixing and just can't see myself writing anyone else. And it because if someone does have a Myungsoo, he's usually straight as a board or dominant as and I don't want to write my OTP out with either of those types, which happen to be the only thing people are willing to write. I would write Yixing more if there was a person who had Myungsoo who wasn't confined to those two things.

So my RPing ends up me RPing with people and never getting to write my OTPs and I'm always stuck roleplaying with girls. (I want to roleplay with both, that's why I always make my character biual or panual or demiual so I can roleplay with both guys and girls and establish a love line if I want, but that never happens. So that more.)

I even tried making my own RPs before, but only like two people sign up, never wanted to RP and eventually left. So I try not to make RPs on RR because a) no one will sign up or b) people will and no one will roleplay. (But I do have one right now and out of the 16 people that signed up, I roleplayed with one person and that's it. I even commented on people's walls if they wanted to roleplay and only one did. But I like my idea and I don't want to part with it just yet. But seriously, it . (I'll never get to write about Myungsoo playing the oboe and being in his famous father's shadows, trying to make friends and failing because he's awkward as .))

I also dislike 1st person so that eliminates a bunch of roleplays too.

And I like to plot, but no one else likes to plot and the ones that do already have my characters taken. (I can't be other characters because whenever I roleplay, I always use people I can identify with or am used to writing. So Myungsoo, Jongdae, and Yixing I'm used to writing.) (Maybe after I write some oneshots/drabbles I'll be able to identify with other characters, but for right now, there isn't much.) So that too.

So in the end, AFF has people more willing to roleplay than RR, while RR is a mixed batch of extremely good to extremely bad roleplays where I literally have to play the lotto to actually roleplay and even then, I usually lose the lotto.

So I don't mind roleplaying every once in a while, but RR just kind of for me and I wish there were more people on RR that are like the people on AFF. (Seriously, I've only met one person who actually went to people's walls and asked to roleply while on AFF you get everyone asking you.)

Maybe I'm just a really terrible person on RR and people can tell whenever I apply.

Oh, if you're just comfortable with the concept of role playing and aren't too picky with the whole 'I must be this character' of something like that, you might like Gaia - it's more of a forum roleplay, but thr people there are much more... Open to ideas, especially since I'm in a few high literacy roleplays and everyone wants to roleplay with you. You might just have to diversify though, since people make OCs there generally with face claims, not actually role playing the celebrity or idol.

All the AFF roleplays I've seen are first person which may be the cause of why I don't prefer AFF over RPR. I'm on hiatus over on RPR for finals and everything but there are some quality roleplays where people will go around welcoming the newbie and asking if you want to RP (example: there's one RP about mutants or something and another that's called the Boyfriend Factory)
I usually roleplay as guys. I've played both straight, gay, and biual guys and guys with personalities ranging from cute/cheesy to dominant/cocky to detached/lonely. But yeah, I'm always up for RPing if you need an RP partner OTL.
Also, is it just me or is roleplaying as a girl very awkward? I mean, I feel almost out of my own skin LOL

Yeah, I get what you mean about how generally you have to be proactive and ask others to RP but I actually found that more people want to RP with you when you're a guy. Plus, when they find out the MUN is a guy, they all want to RP with you (don't judge me, but I pretended to be a guy on RPR for awhile and literally had girl coming up to me like "omg are you a guy can we rp pls")

And also it's harder and harder to find good 3rd pov rps with good plots and active members. There used to be much more of those when I first joined RPR. However, I'm planning on creating a 3rd pov superpower RP (god I just love those but RPR has only a handful of them).

Well, I went off on some tangents but yeah.

Oh, this definitely gives a new perspective. I mean, I want to move all RPs here to RoleplayRepublic lol to clean...err...organize things here. There, you don't need to create multiple user accounts. One user account, multiple character profiles. Then they have rooms and the masterlist. I think that site is neat when it comes to features but once again, it is the people who uses it that makes the difference.
