New featuring stories system on AFF

So I realized AFF is changing so much these days. One of the new change is featuring stories with the most votes and I actually think it's pretty nice now except, it doesn't work properly. I was looking at one of my favourite stories on AFF with number of votes above 330 which was just basically omitted, considering the fact that stories with less votes are now being featured. Seriously, what's going on? It's a little bit unfair for all who work hard and at the end are just ignored because it looks like the system just chooses stories randomly... That makes me miss the old featuring system a lot...

To my understanding, it is the amount of votes in a certain amount of time. So if you compare one story which has a lot of upvotes which occurred in a longer time period and another story with less votes but with the votes occurring in a short time frame, the one with less votes will be featured.

I think it's the number votes over a certain time, not over all. Like, if it gets 200 votes all in one week, it will be featured, even if another story has a total of 300 votes, but if those were spread out over a month, that doesn't count.
