miracle in december - my thoughts

so i've listened to both mv's about fifty thousand times by now and i have to say i enjoy the chinese version more than the korean version. for me, luhan sang his parts much better than kyungsoo did for me. luhan had a lot more emotion in his voice and this song just did him justice as a singer.

(baekchensoo may be the main three singers in exo, but luhan did very well for this song and if sm didn't promote luhan like they do, luhan probably would have replaced kyungsoo in the main three singer position weeks ago.) (i'm not being mean here, because luhan may be a singer, but sm promotes him as a visual/dancer instead of a singer sometimes, so if they promoted him as a singer more than they do, i do believe that he could knock kyungsoo off his position, espeically since i do think that luhan is usually more confident on stage than kyungsoo is sometimes.)

i think baekhyun did okay, but i just don't really like him as a singer that much. i don't like his voice since it's not very unique to me, unlike jongdae's voice. he has good technique and whatnot, but he just pales in comparision when it's between him and jongdae. and people say he's usually pretty good at emoting well, but i don't hear it that well and his performances never really leave me shaking or anything like that. i also believe that he has trouble harmonizing with the other singers sometimes as well, so while he is a strong singer, he still has a way to go.

(i'll be biased here) but i think jongdae did the best and the song definitely showcased him quite well compared to the other singers and it really did make him stand out for his skill. (and his lower register.... adfkjaskdljasldsjkelsjfkfldsjklsdflk) but really, i think jongdae did very well and has improved even more since last comeback. (i admire jongdae's tenacity and willpower to succeed and better his skills, because with every comeback he gets better and improves something that he's had trouble with. i really do think jongdae is really starting to come into his own and is finding his own style and voice too. and his chinese improved bucketloads compared to his mama days and i like that you can tell the difference and know how hard he's working at learning the language and being able to sing it well as well as being able to emote well.

overall, i think they all did well and like the ballad and will only listen to it for jongdae to be honest, because i have a feeling that i will get bored of this song fast and jongdae's the only one really doing it for me. but i do think that this type of song fits luhan well and i would like to see baekhyun maybe get to do some rock ballads, kyungsoo some r&b ballad type stuff, and then jongdae doing more romantic ost songs (or certain rock ballads) instead.

but i have to see the live version of this to give me another view on it, because live performances are different than mv's/cds because it's easier to hear the power and emotions in each person's voice because producers are obviously going to mess with vocals and whatnot so it fits the song better and is more ear friendly. however, the live version will also be a testament to how good vocal line is, what they need to work on, and what they do excessively well.

Haha I finally got to watch the Korean MV (no internet right when they were released otl otl), and the comments on it were amazing. Why? Because people were praising Jongdae left and right. I still have to watch the Chinese Version, but that's just something I thought was interesting.
Jongdae's always been amazing, but people don't usually notice him :3

This is the first time I've seen you spazz, I think haha :)
The song didn't do much for me tbh. I listened to the Chinese ver first (Chen's Chinese... Damn) and I prefer it. I kind of wished it would have stayed the same as Luhan's part (his and Chen's parts seemed to different for me, Luhan was soft but Chen was loud. I'm not sure if I'm making sense), but it didn't have a hook for me and I'm not feeling it. Tbh I barely finished the Korean version. I agree with you about all the Kyungsoo/Luhan stuff.

Still, them vocals. I think I should listen to it more though. It might be the type to grow on you, like Man in Love (it used to be one of my least fav songs in kpop, but now it's fairly up there. Idk it happened so.late, but it overtook Hysterie. That's a feat in itself.)
