Here's a post, to EXO, for winning Album of the Year at MAMA 2013. 

Here's a post, to EXO, for recognition given to their hard work no matter how short this period seems to be. 

And my main point. Here's a post, to butthurt fans surrounding EXO. 

Whaaaaaa? Despite the joy of winning a daesang award being celebrated by EXO's fans all around the world, there is still the usual group of people who sit there with doubtful thoughts, or are busily raging away on social platforms. I'm a fan of EXO. No, I'm not going to speak up for them and protect them at all cost just because they're my idols, but here's what I think about the whole issue of EXO winning. 

Ignoring the usual haters of EXO, which means those that already don't like them in the very first place, I'm going to be talking about the issue of fans of other groups, (especially EXO's sunbae, I think this is obvious enough) who applaud EXO for their win, but yet go behind everyone's back and claim, "I'm happy they won, but isn't this too soon?", "Other groups took years of hardwork to acheive something big and EXO obtained this so easily?", yada yada yada. 

1. Despite debuting for a short span of ONE FREAKING YEAR, do you think that's it? Please do not forget to include the years spent training too. Joonmyun's a perfect example with 7 ing years, but Baek and Chen spent 2 years training too. With an average of around 4 years per member, it leads me to think,,, not such a short period of time after all, isn't it?

2. Of course, people be telling me, "Well I was talking about the time span after they debuted, not including trainee years." Look. It's 2013. A year where hallyu wave is going strong, a year where there are more and more fans present, a year where more votes are obtained easily. Do you see where I'm driving at now? No? Simply put, times are different. You no longer need to put in as much effort as in the past to get your music out there in the world, you do not need as much effort to get recognised. That being said, I'm not trying to contradict myself by saying EXO didn't put in effort, I'm just trying to show you that this makes a difference in how early they can achieve an award. 

3. EXO is in SME, where their seniors are a few of the most popular kpop groups around the world. It is of no surprise that this fame is easily rubbed upon EXO, and that is also a reason why EXO has so many fans in the very first place. Harsh reality of the kpop society: No matter how much your talent, if you're just a nugu group, good luck for it'll take years for you to get famous. Of course, most fans after sticking around with EXO for months will realise the raw potential and talent that they have, and this is also a reason why we've stuck by them all these while. 

4. This award, is ALBUM OF THE YEAR. We're not trying to claim that they're the best artists of the year, for another idol has already won that (congrats GD btw solo artist for the first time ever respect omfg). It is the truth that EXO has made an astounding amount of sales just by their albums alone, and this is the whole ing point of the award. IF YOUR IDOL DIDN'T EVEN COMEBACK THIS YEAR, HOW DO YOU EXPECT TO WIN? As compared to the other idols, EXO won in this category, and this is how they have gotten this award. This award has no relation whatsoever to how long they worked and what the ever. They put in the effort, EXO fans liked the album, they bought the album, many people bought the album, they have record sales, they win FAIR AND SQUARE. 

I might have missed out on additional points while trying to state my claim, but pls forgive me for I am just too irritated by all these butthurt fans claiming EXO does not deserve this. Who are you, to tell EXO that they don't deserve this?
