Panda pretty much goes with the flow. He likes clean and simple looks. He’s got bit more of a western style but he likes to wear whatever is “in” in Korea as well.  He loves to wear black and dark grey though.

Character

Personality: He’s pretty laid back, well for the most part. He’s really calm-headed in emergency situations but insecure with himself when doing public appearances and guest shows because he hasn’t lived in Korea for that long. He tries not to get involved in other’s problems, especially because he doesn’t trust his ability to fully understand the people involved, but he puts his foot down when he knows something isn’t right.

He generally responds to criticism well and works really hard to learn Korean customs and culture. A lot of times he might forget to use honorifics or he’ll get them wrong. If he’s scolded he apologizes and immediately corrects himself. However, if he’s in a jealous or tired mood, doesn’t feel well, or has already been scolded a lot in a short span of time he’ll get really angry and throw a bit of a tantrum. If that happens, he can be a bit of a handful because you don’t know if he’s going to stomp away, start yelling in English, or just shut up completely.

Usually outside the dorm he acts cute because that image goes along with the nickname Panda and he realizes that a lot of the fans go crazy over that image but in front of the members he wants to be treated with more maturity. Secretly he’d love to be a leader but he doesn’t have the experience or communication skills for that to have ever been a possible option for him. Some days he’ll get really jealous of the other Korean members always “having it easy” (all in his head) and when that happens, he gets kind of moody and the cuteness disappears.

How is your opinion to alcohol, , parties and drugs?

He rebelled against his aunt when he was in high school and got really involved in partying and drugs but he isn’t really into that any more. Plus he is really worried if he loses his image or gets kicked out of the group for something like that he will never be able to find his father. He will drink however because a few drinks make him more confident and he has a better personality in a group situation. When he gets drunk though he hangs all over people and gets really cuddly even if people don’t want him near them.

Family

Family Background: His mother (Sarah) was Korean but adopted and grew up in a white family that lived in the States. When she was a junior in college she decided to study abroad in Korea to learn where she came from. It was there that she met his father, Park Yeonggwang and they fell in love. The night before she returned to the States they had a huge argument over something stupid. A few weeks later she discovered she was pregnant but when she tried to contact Yeonggwang she couldn’t find him. She was brokenhearted and when Panda was four she suddenly passed away.

Panda was adopted by his Aunt (both American) who raised him. He was teased by American kids for being Korean and by Korean kids for not knowing anything about Korean culture. His Aunt tried very hard to help him, sending him to Korean classes where he began to learn how to speak and some of the culture. At the same time, he also took dance lessons and put most of his energy and frustration into becoming a better dancer. When he graduated high school, she agreed to let him move to Korea to pursue a career in the entertainment industry because she wanted him to be happy. What she doesn’t know is that what Panda really wants is to become famous enough to find his father.

 

Family Members:

Sarah Jamison (Mother). All Panda really remembers about her was that she was sad a lot of the time.

Park Yeonggwang (Father), whereabouts unknown. Panda hopes he will be able to get famous enough for his father to recognize his last name and meet him.

Rachel Jamison (Aunt but considered mother). Panda considers her his mother more than Sarah.

Max Jamison (Cousin, considered brother). He was born when Panda was 10 which could make him about 9 years old.

Trainee Experience: The trainee experience was stressful as Panda was basically put into a crash course of the entertainment history. He had to learn a new culture, language, and way of life very quickly. Everyone was nice to him, but he suffered a lot during the first year from the anxiety of it all.

 

Trainee Background: Although he was incredibly awkward at the audition, YG saw that he had great dance training. He worked extremely hard, which impressed all of the managers as well as his fellow trainee’s. Because he was shy about making friends, people thought he was stand offish until they realized he was just a confused new kid. After that it was a bit easier for him to make friends.

Friends:  Pretty friendly with a lot of idols but not really close to anyone in particular.
