okay so like in my head tiffany and suho are originally really close way back trainee days and they’re close friends, almost like best friends and they know everything about each other. maybe not everything, there are still secrets but they’re still close and really comfortable that sometimes miyoung lies her head on joonmyun’s stomach while they both gaze at the stars on the building’s roof and count their dreams. until miyoung debuted under the name girls’ generation.

they stopped doing that. they both grew up and they drifted apart. years into the present, suho finally debuts and tiffany is really really happy for him but she wasn’t able to go to their showcase because she had schedules at the same day. 

so they meet, later that day, in the company building with tiffany’s face bare and suho is just //joonmyun// and tiffany is //miyoung//. they’re awkward now, barely exchanging smiles and suddenly it’s suho that //miyoung// is talking to. it’s suho with the polite bow, it’s suho with the proper honorifics towards a sunbae and a noona. it’s suho and not the //joonmyun// she used to tell her stories at. it’s not the joonmyun that was her best friend because joonmyun never uses honorifics on her. joonmyun never calls her noona. and never uses honorifics on her.

it’s awkward. and miyoung becomes tiffany with the camera-ready eyesmile.

months pass by and they’re still this awkward, sometimes taetiseo and exo-k meet at the dressing rooms for publicity photos for the rookies and they take pictures together. tiffany and suho doesn’t talk again but when it’s time for picture taking, suho finds his way behind tiffany and poses with her like the old days when they’d take silly selcas with suho behind tiffany. with joonmyun behind miyoung.

"you did great today." tiffany says to the kids, glancing at every other member and tries her best not to let her eyes linger at suho but it does— it lingers on suho and he catches suho looking at her too. she smiles. and suho— joonmyun shies away.

and then they never get to talk again.

until one day, before dream concert, suho comes up to tiffany inside the confines of the building when exo-k and taetiseo coincidentally meets there. they talk near the comfort rooms because tiffany had just washed her hands as suho approaches her. “hey,”

"hey yourself." tiffany blinks and lets herself be miyoung though her eyeshadow and fake lashes tell otherwise, deep inside, she’s miyoung facing joonmyun.

"you look great." joonmyun lets out a small chuckle, stuffing his hands inside the pockets of his jeans.

"are you insulting me?" miyoung fakes a gasp and she knows exactly where this is going.

"no, i’m honest." joonmyun smiles at her like they are teenagers again and miyoung’s heart warms a little. this is //her// joonmyun. this is the joonmyun that she told her dreams and wishes too at 2AM on the company building on the year 2006. 

and then they lock gazes— for a few seconds before they both erupt into laughter with miyoung covering her face with the both of her hands and joonmyun laughing against the back of his hand. 

"miyoung,"

"joonmyun."

"your calling me of noona was appalling by the way."

"i know."

and then more than a year after exo’s debut, when miyoung and joonmyun had gained back their friendship through phone calls and secret building meetings. miyoung finds out that joonmyun is still awkward with girls— especially with her group members and just generally //girls// she decides to poke fun at his complex.

it’s smtown beijing and she’s already holding hands with sulli. she looks around and thinks it’s perfect. all around her are girls and joonmyun is just in the right distance for her to call him out with a bright, mocking smile. “joonmyun-ah!” she reaches out her hand, gently passing by sunny to call joonmyun and he trudges to her with that smile that says //tiffany…..//

she takes joonmyun’s hand in hers, squeezes lightly before pulling him forward and smiling at him with that pure and genuine eyesmile, not for the camera but for teasing her friend for being between the girls and joonmyun returns her eyesmiles.

she can’t quite place if it’s exasperation or amusement. but what she knows is that she made fun of joonmyun. 1-0.
