                   • background ; Jung Heejung was born on April 12, 1995, to Jung Janghyun, a policeman, and Jung Dahyun, a doctor, in Incheon, South Korea. She grew up as an only child with no siblings to play with, often resulting in playing by herself or with her mother whenever she was free. Her love for music came when she went to a dance lesson with a friend from kindergarten. She fell in love with the sound and the rhythm, wanting to do something like that herself. Her parents weren't overly excited about her newfound interest, but they did let her take dance lessons as well.

After her father's death at age 8, she occupied her time by trying out various school activities. She tried out for soccer, basketball, gymnastics, archery and karate. None of them really met her expectations, and her relationship with her mother was starting to slip as well. She wanted them to be as close as before, but with long hours and more focus on studies, it became to little time for "trivial matters" such as that. Heejung posted videos of herself doing song and dance covers during middle school. She did American covers and popular K-pop and J-pop songs as well. This was where she was discovered by her company.
