Hai Lun is a cheerful, optimistic and carefree girl who walks the street with a posture that noone can copy. She always carries a sweet smile and her back's always straight, whilst sitting and walking. She's an extremely great listener and has the sweetest smile that would melt people's hearts and she uses that advantage to the best of her ability. She is extremely blunt as she says whatever comes up to her mind, often hurting people without her realising. But her sweet sincere smile usually allows her to get away with her blunt comments.
Hai Lun cares a lot about how she looks but doesn't care about what others think of her, she just wears what she thinks she looks good in; she has never went out just wearing trackies and a jumper. She'd at least have eyeliner on and some lip gloss before leaving the house. Surprisingly she keeps up with all the latest fashion and keeps her studies all As except for history which she hates. People ask her why and she says its a secret, actually it's because of her older sister who's a part of a fashion industry. Her sister brings home a lot of fashion magazines and Hai Lun tries to copy the fashion as close as she possibly could with the cheapest clothing she could find around her neighbourhood.
She's the sassiest poor girl in school; she is not embarrassed by the low-qualitied pencil cases and pens she owns. People that , she'd always retaliate by saying that her results are much better than those who have the best and most expensive stationery. She is known throughout her school as being the most confident girl on campus who's also the poorest.
She's a person who's a money saver, she saves up every little bit of money that she could save. When she's given money to go grocery shopping, she'd even take in the ten cents left and put it into her piggy bank. However due to her love for fashion and her care for appearances, she spends most of her money on thrifting clothes in cheap shops.
Hai Lun is an extremely determined and competitive girl. When there's something she wants, she would not give up until she gets it. She does tend to be hesitant when making decisions, but when she has made a decision she becomes as hard as rock, noone can change her decision.
Due to her carefree personality, she thinks brightly all the time and loves joking around with everyone, even strangers. Some people might think she's weird but most people welcome her; some others even envy her. She makes people smile unconsciously with her random sarcastic words or childish actions that she makes without her realising.

Hai Lun's family was average in the beginning, they had all the basic necessities and had the ability to rent a two bedroom flat in China. They immigrated to Korea when Helen turned 14. Her parents always tried their best at work, which was cleaning and manufacturing toys at a toy factory. Both of them had to wake up at 5am everyday and get back home around 6pm, sometimes they even have to live at the factory or the owner's house. This leaves Hai Lun and her older sister home alone half the time. Half of the money earned by her hardworking parents were given to her sister when her sister attended uni, this already shook them pretty hard financially, then something horrible happened. Hai Lun's grandfather was to have lung cancer and needed to operate soon - in the next two months.
These turn of events forced the family to live in a one bedroom unit and her parents always tried to stay out at night working for money. They also borrowed money from many of their friends and were in huge debt as they tried to gather the right amount of money for her grandfather's operation. Hai Lun had became stressed to the point of fainting once and she decided to study extremely hard - and as a result she got into the school that the elites were in with a full scholarship.
Hai Lun needed money desperately, she tried not to show by her clothing, but she stopped buying anything and just saved all her money for her grandfather as she loved her grandfather dearly. She heard of the "becoming a honey" job offer and it was the only way to earn easy money and she was confident that she'd be able to do it; she was the sassiest, most confident, attractive girl she school as she thinks, even though she is poor.

At home she's always in the same 2 hoodies and 2 pair of trackies. She walks around in her dad's slippers and always has her hair up in a bun or a high pony tail, to keep her hair out of her face when she's working or doing the chores.
When she goes out she has to have at least simple eye liner on and some lip gloss on. She loves wearing cardigans and denim shirts and jackets. She has a special love to red jumpers and shirts and black jeans. She always wears black jeans, that same pair of heeled boots and tank tops. In summer it's always that black skirt paired up with that same pair of heeled boots and a different simple shirt/tank top. Personality: He's a strict father with huge expectations to everyone. He's a perfectionist and hates his job, but he is extremely responsible and therefore always tries his best for his family.
interactions: Hai Lun's older sister has disappointed him by becoming an assistant of the fashion industry and therefore his expectations on Hai Lun is HUGE and he is extremely strict on her even though their conditions aren't the best. He smiles at her when she gets good results and tries to be encouraging but their relationship isn't the closest but Hai Lun knows how much her dad loves her in her heart by his secret actions eg buying her secret gifts and coming to support her during her concerts and competitions.

Personality: A caring, kind, optimistic and hardworking person who loves her family dearly. She thinks of everything in a bright light and brings happiness to the people around her even though her conditions are the worst in her friendship group.
Interactions: She always smiles at Hai Lun and encourages her all the time in everything that she does, even though sometimes Hai Lun's thought contradict her own thoughts. She cares for Hai Lun a lot and tries to give her everything that she needs, emotional support and the things that she needs for school. Even though she's extremely busy with all the cleaning work that she has to do, she still tries to pull out time to talk with her second daughter and keep their relationship extremely close.

Personality: She's a stubborn girl who would abandon everything for her dreams but she still cares for her family.
Interactions: Event hough Wen Ting isn't as smart as Hai Lun, she was never jealous of her younger sister but she's proud and happy for her younger sister. She knows how much Hai Lun loves clothes and therefore brings as many fashion magazines as she can for her younger sister to flick through. She knows how much pressure Hai Lun is under due to her parents expectations and the family's financial condition.

He is that one handsome guy who always sits in the corner beside that other handsome hyper guy in class. Everyone knows him as that guy who's always at the top of the class but never says a thing in class; noone has seen him smile. He always carries a neutral expression with earphones plugged in. He never acknowledges anyone as he walks past them except for his three close friends who hangs around him. Overall he has an aura that'd make everyone admire him from afar, noone has dared to approach him except for his friends. It's rumoured that the glares he gives people would send shivers down your spine and you'd never want to look him in the eye ever again.
He is an independent kid who makes his own food at home even though there's heaps of maids in the kitchen waiting for his order. He ignores everyone in the household except for his parents; he only speaks to them when he disagrees, other wise he just gives them a simple nod every time they speak to him.
He does not participate in any clubs or anything. His friends and he always disappears at lunch time and noone knows where they go. Rumours that they'd climb over the fence and go out into town to eat, but really his friends actually goes to the swimming pool located far at the back of the school grounds; the isolated swimming pool. He however goes to the abandoned music house besides the swimming pool and either plays piano or practices dancing there. He weirdly has a passion for dancing but noone knows about it, only his three close friends.
first meeting |
This was during the first few days Hai Lun was at her new school. She was exploring around and somehow wandered to the abandoned music house at the back of the school grounds. She heard a beautiful piece being played on a piano, following the sound with curiosity, she found the classroom that Yixing was in. She stepped in silently as the door was open and as she walked to the side of the piano, Yixing stopped immediately as he saw Hai Lun. He glared at her but Hai Lun just looked back at him innocently and started clapping exclaiming "that was great" in her chinese accented Korean. Yixing realises that she was chinese and continues staring at her. As Yixing was about to leave, Hai Lun sits down and starts playing Yixing's favourite piece and started singing with her sweet voice. Yixing stops in his steps surprised and gradually went back to the piano and started playing the piano duet along with her and sang along with her too. However as soon as the duet ended, Yixing grabbed his things and rushed out the door without saying anything to the confused girl sitting blankly at the piano.

After their first meeting, because Yixing wasn't in her class, she never really met him again and she didn't really go back to that abandoned music house anymore after she heard the rumours about the place. But she was still curious about him.
Hai Lun knew about him again after the mid-year exams that year, he was 1st out of the whole school and she was 2nd. After that, they were always competing against each other academic wise and Hai Lun would approach him when she sees Yixing alone, however Yixing would just continue to stare at her and sometimes nod at her.
Hai lun would get frustrated the first few times she interacted with him but afterwards she got used to it, but she never stopped approaching him. She would talk to him every single time she got the chance to. Yixing tried to walk away from her all the time at first but gradually gave up and allowed her to tag along.
Yixing would always plug in his earphones when Hai Lun tried to talk to him, sometimes she'd keep talking and just pretended that he was listening, other times she would stop him from walking and they'd having a staring contest before Yixing would mutter "Go away." and walked off leaving Hai Lun with furrowed eyebrows.
