Annyeong! :)

So i'm writing a fanfic plan for a K-Drama which i don't know if i'll post anywhere or not, but i was wondering...

in a Historical Joseon era (drama or real life, they are both the same) what is the name of the person who reads out what a criminal has commited and the sentence before it is administered? You know the guy that usually stands to the side and reads out a scroll? then the royalty or authority lifts a hand/nodds their head and it happens?

I know it is a bit random but i don't really want to say,

'Then the prince turned to the guy reading the scroll and nodded at him to read out the sentence to befall the man so dear to him'

So does anyone know the official name for this person? Or if not, another term i could use for him?
