I need help on english homework majorly

Does anyone knows how to do the elements of thought for a News article because i have an 10-12 page research paper over US vs Syria thing and I dont know what the Elements of thought are. I will be very happy if someone can help explain it to me because none in my college english class will and that is including my teacher.
