Best Dream Ever

Ok guys, I had the best dream ever and actually remembered it!

So I decided to write it in story form xP

Setting: Hawai'i!

(This is right across from my grandparents house so this is the setting)

So I am back home in Hawai'i, visitng my family, and I am just walking on the beach. The breeze is cool and the sound of the ocean is just so calming. I am wearing this pretty white dress that goes over my bikini btw. Anyway, as I am walking I see something on the ground and go to pick it up. As I am bent down someone bumps into me and I fall into the sand.

"Duìbùqǐ!" he exclaimed.

Since I am learning Mandarin my natural response is "Wǒ méishì" which is 'I'm alright' in Mandarin.

I stand up and see this Asian guy (I can't remember his face but since he is speaking fluent Mandarin, I can only assume.) and he is flustered. He starts going off in his native tongue while I stand there cluelessly.

"I don't know that much Mandarin." I admit.

He laughs sheepishly and rubs the back of his neck cutely. "Ah, I am sorry." he says in English but you can distinctly hear his accent. "Are you ok?"

"Yeah, I'm fine." I respond surely.

"Do you speak Mandarin?" he asks, curious to how I responded earlier.

"I am learning a bit right now." I tell him.

"Ah, are you from around here?"

"Yeah but I live in the states right now. Where are you from?" I ask.

"I am from Beijing. I am here on vacation with my family."

"I've always wanted to visit Beijing. Maybe when my Mandarin gets better I will."

"It is a nice place." he tells me. "My name is LiJun."

"Hi, I'm Alyssa."

"Alyssa." he repeats. i laugh because his L sounds like an R, making my name sound like Aryssa.

I don't remember a lot of what happens next but we end up walking down the beach together. He is telling me all about Beijing and I would laugh at his small little English mistakes.

"Maybe I can teach you a few phrases. Uh, Yī pán jiǎozi, qǐng!"

"What does that mean?" I ask him.

"It means, can I have one plate of dumplings please. Beijing has some of the best dumpling shops."

"Ah, that sounds good right now."

"Wo jiao Alyssa."

"That means My name is Alyssa." I pointed out.

"Correct. Maybe when you visit Beijing I can show you around."

"I don't know, it's a big city with a lot of people. How will I find you?"

"I'll just look for the foreign girl who barely speaks Mandarin." he teased.

"When I go to Beijing and if you see me I will blow you away with my Mandarin skills." I declared.

"Yǒu yītiān, wǒmen huì zài jiànmiàn de." he said while looking in the distance.

"What does that mean?" I asked.

"When you learn Mandarin, you will know." he smiled at me.

I found it funny because he sounded like an old wise man in an Asian movie.

"Have you been to the states before?" I asked.

"No." he shook his head.

"If you ever visit, come to Missouri, and I'll show you around."

"I don't know, the states are pretty big. Will I be able to find you?"

We both laughed and the next thing I know, we're walking away from each other.

Some time had passed and I was in a class. It was a college class I am assuming because in my dream I felt older and I wasn't attending my high school.

By that time my Mandarin had improved by a lot. I was sitting in one of my classes when someone sat next to me. In the dream I was watching it like a movie. LiJun was sitting next to me, watching me with a smile on his face. I finally glance over at him and recognize him but I don't say a word.

"Yīncǐ, wǒmen zàicì jiànmiàn. (So we meet again.)" he said. I stare at him for a bit more.

"LiJun, what are you doing here?" I ask.

"I am here for class." he answers. His English had improved as well.

"You're studying here in America?"

"I will for a while, and after that I will return to Beijing." he tells me. I am kind of sad because he is only there for a short amount of time. "Would you like to go back with me? I think you'll still need someone to help you translate for you."

I roll my eyes. "Wǒ xiǎng wǒ huì bèi fákuǎn. (I think I'll be fine)" I tell him.

"Wow, very good." he smiles. "Did you remember what I told you? Do you know what it means now?"

"Yǒu yītiān, wǒmen huì zài jiànmiàn de." I repeat his words. "One day we will meet again." I translated. "Do all Asians have future predicting powers?" I joked.

"Bù, wǒ zhǐshì zhēn de xiǎng zàicì jiàn dào nǐ. (No, I just wanted to see you again.)" he told me.

As cheesy as it was I still fell for it. Who wouldn't?

So apparently in my dreams I know fluent Mandarin... I am so jealous of my dream self :p

I can't believe I remembered so much because I NEVER remember any of my dreams.

Gaaaahhhh false hope T^T

Wow! You know so much mandarin!
You'll get more fluent over time, just like in the dream.

You and Lijun get together! You're so lucky!
