Facts & Clarifications for Wolf, the Top Gang

Hi guys~ This is a post that I'm hoping will clarify things, just in case people misunderstand in the future (a few already did - nothing wrong with that!) Hm, I was thinking of providing chapters for evidence, but too lazy. I might do that later, so keep your eyes peeled! Hehe. Oh, and, some of these are just interesting facts (eg. how did I think of "Prix".)

Oh, and, if you guys don't understand anything about the story, comment below or PM me anytime! I'll answer you & put it here so that other people who aren't as open or eager about PMing or commenting, might have their questions answered. I'll be adding to this along the way!

• WTG stands for Wolf, the Top Gang.

• Meanings behind the dwelling names: Pacem ("peace" in Latin), Caritatis ("charitable" in Latin), Verax ("truthful" in Latin), Intrepidus ("fearless" in Latin), and Callidum ("shrewd" in Latin). Why Latin? Because it's one of the most ancient names and is quite the traditional lagnuage. ^^ In Korean, it would be a little more challenging. Pacem would've been Pyeonghwa, which is harder to remember for my foreign readers imo.

• My inspiration for WTG came from a scene in the EXO's Drama teaser. Do you guys remember that scene where like there's the girl in the middle of a warehouse with cans of little fire are around and gangsters are present and more gangsters in motorcycls are circling around? That's when I wanted to write a gang story. However, my plot, as many of you noticed, is 100% mine and original.

• Females cannot gain abilities. Not all males have abilities, either. Only certain males have abilities (eg. all of Wolf, most of Cougar, some government officials, etc.). As for how you gain your abilities, or which ability you get, is still unknown.

•  DE stands for Dark Era. To me, I thought that sounded way too cliche and idk, it made me cringe every time I tried writing it, which is why I abbreviated to DE. Besides, it has a little ring to it, right? Especially that quote Jinah hates so much; "It's DE."

•  If you're curious/have questions about dwelling life (how Jinah became Jaein's main target, how Jinah and Minjung became friends, where Aheun came from, etc.) or the Hood and Army life (Wolf when they were twelve, up to their Army life, the Merging), and so on, you should visit the side story collection. :)

• The word "Prix" means prize and/or price in the romantic language of French. In Latin, it was Praemeum which was too long for my liking. In Korean, it would be Sangpum, but that generally refers to luxury items or goods, and it'd be weird to call a person that.

• There are exactly nineteen Code of Callidum Ethics that are taught in Callidum (this is relevant later on;] hinthint foreshadowing here hehe)

•  Jinah first went to Caritatis after Amity-B (which is a sub-unit for children that have been sold to dwellings), but switched to Callidum when she was eight years old.

Siblings are considered rare because of the Birther system. A birther is a maiden who was unable to be chosen by a gang when they were 17/18 and didn't complete enough education to become a representative/Miss. Their job is to give birth to a child once every year for three years. These children usually has a year difference and although they are siblings, it is highly unlikely to meet each other. Xiumin and Aheun found each other because they were twins and it was revealed they were siblings by a specific event. So in reality, it's not that siblings are rare (for everyone has two or will have two), it's the awareness of having one that is rare. However, pure-siblings are rare (same parents) because Birthers don't have husbands, meaning their children will usually have different fathers.

• The Female System. Although this is explained in the description and first chapter of WTG, I'll explain it again. Females are raised under parent care until they're five years of age. After that, they're usually sold to the Dwelling Committee (Pacem, Caritatis, Intrepidus, Verax, and Callidum) and first placed at Pacem-B, a generous sub-unit for children. When they're older, female candidates can choose which dwelling to go to. In total, female candidates can only switch dwellings twice and it must be before they're fourteen (when studying/learning gets serious). At seventeen, they attend to the ceremony to meet with gangs. If they're chosen, they become Prixes. If they don't, they can become a dwelling maiden, try again next year, or become a Birther. When they reach around 25-30 (First Retirement age), with the gang leader's consent, females can get official jobs such as doctors, government officials, store owners, etc.

• The Male System. Males are raised under parent care until they're twelve years old. During this time, they go to school. When they reach twelve, all of the neighborhoods come together to go on the Journey. If one dies, passes out, or is unable to complete this Journey, they are sent to the Factory, where only harsh labor awaits. For three years, until they're fifteen, they train very hard at the Army and undergo Army Training. At any time, any day, these boys can be sent to the Factory for weakness, incapability, disobedience, etc. At fifteen, they are visited by gang leaders who have reached their First Retirement age (this is when they choose official jobs, such as doctors, government officials, store owners, etc.) who come to the Army to pick the boys with the highest potential of carrying on their title. The sixth generation of Wolf chose EXO, who all had top results, to continue their reign. The fifth generation chose the sixth, etc.

• "Sixth" or "last gen" refers to the generations of Wolf. The current members of Wolf (EXO) are NOT the founders of Wolf. They have been chosen by the previous generation. The current Wolf members have shown very high potential and demonstrated skill during Army training, and their high scores have attracted the Top Gang. Since all of the sixth generation have reached First Retirement age, they chose twelve members (the number of gang members required for a gang to merge) and trained them for a year or so before they went to get official jobs.

• First Retirement Age (25-30 years old) is when people get official jobs. After choosing the people for the next generation of the gang, the people that have reached First Retirement Age get official jobs (doctor, banker, baker, cashier, librarian, proprietor, etc.). Second Retirement Age (50-80) is when they retire completely and have enough money to fund a living for however many more years they live. When you retire depends on how much you have saved up.

Just wondering, I know how you highly stress that females can NOT have abilities... but in the story it kind of foreshadows that she will get one. I'm sorry if I'm reading into this too much, but I can't help myself! I just really want her to have an ability! Sorry that I'm asking this even though you have answered it many times before, but is there a chance she will have one?
