Hihi friends ^^ As most of you probably know by now I put myself on a hiatus from fanfics to work on this real novel I'd been dreaming about since October of 2008. 

Actually, at this point in time I've written 6 chapters, and I have no idea how many more there will be. I just have the geenral plot and some exciting details/events planned out. Like I mentioned to a few people before... I'd be willing to post up some non-finalized, excerpts from what I've written. You may or may not be able to infer what is happening in the excerpt because I won't provide context (or that'll spoil too much). Regardless, I hope this short snippet will be of some enjoyment ^^ There's stil much editing and rewording I would like to do, but I'm going to share this rough draft from my most recent chapter. It only underwent editing once.

Excerpt from Chapter: 6 (Prayer of the Stars)

Ayden heaved the last box into the garage from the rented moving truck parked on his new driveway. He glanced at his watch and knew that dinner would be running late today. His mom came out into the garage to check up on him, and he gave her a quick thumbs up to signal that the job was done.

            “I’m sorry dear. Dinner’s not quite ready yet.” She sighed, wiping her hands on her pink apron. “How about taking Alice out to explore the neighborhood? She’s been gazing out the front window watching cars pass by nonstop.”

            “Sounds good,” Ayden smiled, dusting off his shoulders before closing the garage door. He pulled open the front door and poked his head in, seeing his little sister with her eyes glued to the window despite the TV playing episode reruns of the original Pokemon.

            “Alice,” He called out, ripping her attention off the dancing tree branches. “Let’s go for a walk before dinner.” She beamed and jumped up from the sofa, nearly tripping over herself as her legs tingled.

            “My feet are asleep.” She pouted, sitting flat on the carpet as she pounded gently against her heel. Ayden laughed and helped her back up.

            “It’s best to walk it off. This is why you don’t stay in the same position for so long without moving.” He guided her to the front door and waited for her to slip on a pair of sneakers. Before leaving, she reached for her umbrella that rested beside the closet.

            “You don’t need this. It’s not going to rain.” Ayden laughed, leaning the umbrella back against the wall. Alice eyed him suspiciously and then grabbed the umbrella again.

            “It’s not just for defense against rain, you know.”

            “Then what are you trying to defend against exactly?” Ayden decided to humour her.

            “Bad guys! Mom always says that I should be careful when I’m outside.” Alice said matter-of-factly, and then used the tip of the umbrella to poke at Ayden’s lower back.

            “That’s why I’m here!” He chuckled, pulling the door open for the cool evening breeze to call out to them. “I bet I can protect you better than your umbrella can.” Alice stopped to think for a moment, looking to her umbrella, then back at her older brother’s confident grin.

            “I don’t care! I’m bringing this anyway!” She settled, prancing out the door ahead of Ayden to affirm that the discussion was over. Alice was 7, old enough to not have to hold hands, but still young enough to have to keep a close eye on. She liked walking ahead of Ayden, swinging her umbrella back and forth like a warning signal proclaiming that she was armed and all bad guys should stay away. If she was in front, she could lead the way. It was one of the only things that ever made her feel a little superior to her older brother, so she was glad that he would play along as the faithful follower.
