My KCON 2013 Experience

Alright guys.  I'm going to start this off with a brief introduction cause I don't really want to just delve straight into it, y'know? Anyways, I basically like to write out pages of all of my memories after an event which I would like to be able to reminisce or look back upon.  So, I'm going to write about my experiences for both days of KCON, August 24 and 25.  I went with my friend, Karrie, and two other guy friends Brandon & Brian.  Alright, now I can start talking about it haha.

August 24

My friend and I got there around 3pm ish since we knew there wasn't much to do that day.  First of all, we had to walk all the way around the parking lot since it was surrounded by locked gates.  We got our tickets and checked in, and we were given pink tote bags, scratchers, wristbands, and schedule cards for the artist engagement.  Karrie got a Dynamic Duo viewing pass so she was really happy about it, but I was disappointed since I got a losing scratcher lol -_- When you first walk in, you walk through all of the fanbooths.  Some fan booths I remember were Soshified, Running Fan, Code Exo, and some for TVXQ and KARA (I think).  There's also a KCON official merch booth, but it was waaay overpriced since they were selling t shirts for $ and albums for $30.  Like heck no I'm not spending that much money on an album especially when I already have all the songs downloaded on my phone.

After you pass the fanbooths, there's an area to the right called the KCON market, and basically a line of food trucks and more merch booths form sort of a mini square in the parking lot.  There were merch booths for jewelry, kpop albums/posters (I bought some posters since they were only $5.99 cause heck that's a good deal lol), energy drinks, etc.  There were also lots of tables and umbrellas for people to eat their food from the food trucks.  Ahead was the Mnet booth and SM Town booth.  To the left, there was the CGV booth where people could go inside two red curtains and watch kdramas/movies, and outside was a line of people waiting to win free stuff. Basically you spin this large wheel and if it lands on anything other than the "Sorry" section they gave free stuff away.  I got a postcard/bookmark thingy for "A Werewolf Boy" but tbh idk what I'm gonna do with it haha.

There was a Hyundai booth with two Hyundai cars, and an announcer speaking through a microphone trying to attract people.  Really loud music was playing through the speakers too.  Next to it was a K-beauty booth, a CJ&M booth, and then a NongShim booth where they were giving away free prizes and samples of noodles.  To the right, next to the CGV booth, there was Panel 3, and next to it was the Dance All Day workshop where people were learning choreography to things like Wolf, Trap, and What's Going On.

All the way at the end of the walkway was the KCON Side Stage, where the outdoor performances were taking place.  Jun Sung Ahn and Yu Seung Woo (forgive me if I mispell anything heh) were among some of the few people who performed that day.  There was a Bibigo truck selling Korean food and more areas for people to sit down and rest.  If you kept walking all the way down and went around the stadium (towards the west wing), you could find the Workshop where people could cook their own Korean food, and Panels 1 & 2.

Oops, I almost forgot to mention that there was the KCON Photo Wall and a line of KCON gift shops lining the walkway towards the main stadium entrance.  The photo wall was where people were supposed to wait in line for their artist engagements, and then once it was time the KCON staff would open up the main gate for people to stream down towards a secluded area were the artists were.  I was so sad when I heard people screaming for G Dragon T__T /cries

Basically, the first day consisted of just walking for 3-4 hours straight.  All of the panels were kind of meh and my friends and I ended up aimlessly wandering around.  I was actually really looking forward to KCON that day but it was really disappointing, ngl.  That's why I described the venue, since there isn't much to talk about aside from it, haha.

Once we got there, we met Jake Patchett (CAUSE OMFG I LOVE HIM OKAY and if you don't know him he's the host from Jjang) and I got a picture from him hehe. :)

Okay... time to start Sunday cause seriously nothing else interesting happened after that haha.

Sunday, August 25

Sooo Karrie & I actually got to the stadium around 11 am this time cause we were looking forward to a few panels this time (and our expectations were raised like... a LOT. lol).  There was a speed dating booth at from 11am to 12 but the thing is, like literally 3/4ths of the people there were GIRLS.. and ngl there were no guys who caught my eye so we just left -_- We waited in line for Jake & Amos' autograph signing at 11:45, and I got my autographs! I asked Amos to do gwiyomi but he failed miserably.. like it was actually pretty lame lol.  Jake was really entertaining though and nice! Ugh I love him so much I can't

After that, we literally walked around some more and decided to just look at the KCON square again.  We bought Mango & Berry Shaved Ice things from the Tous les Jours booth and sat down near the edge of the area to wait for Henry's panel at 3pm.  But, we didn't know there was a line already stretching around the panel to see Henry's panel. By the time we realized it, the line wrapped waaaay around the panel, through some trees and eventually ended up back where we were standing, we were just like fck it and left.  So yeah, that was also disappointing too.  Brandon & Brian got there around 2 pm and we walked over to Dumbfounddead's booth, where we got a picture with him ^_^ He was really good looking person in too omg.. when I approached him to ask for a picture he asked in this deep seductive voice "Hey darling, what can I do for you?"  I was ready to fan myself with one of the many fans I got for free LOL.

We left the premise after that and just walked all the way to the Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf a little ways down the street.  I actually brought my math hw and did it there cause i knew most of our day would consist of sitting around and waiting.  At least there was AC and we had cold drinks, instead of having to stand around in the sun and heat.  At 4:30, we walked back and literally just got in line again at the kmusic booth to buy posters.  After that, we bought more food from a food truck and sat down in this grassy area.

This might be unrelated but omg AJ Rafael was in the exact spot where we were sitting down.  I didn't even know it was him until I saw a group of girls surrounding him for pictures.  I got a picture with him & so did Karrie so at least I met three famous people, aside from the actual k-idols haha.  At 5:50 (I like how I'm being so approximate with the times LOL), we got in line to enter the stadium.  We started filing in around 6:10 pm and we found our seats.  Damn, the stadium is HUUUGE.  There were a lot of seats and the VIP1 & 2 zones were already filled with people standing.  Actually, as we were walking back, there was already like a two mile line of people waiting to get into the stadium.  I think they were the VIP ticketholders since the standing arrangment is first come first serve and who else would wait 3.5 hours lol....

We were sitting in section CON8, row 11, and although our seats were pretty high up, I could still see the stage clearly.  The seats weren't uncomfortable either so we just chilled until the concert started at 7pm.  Well, technically it was a preshow I guess since Jeff Bernat and Chad Future performed a couple of songs.  Idk who either of them are but I clapped for them anyway haha.

The real concert started when all of the lights suddenly dimmed and the stadium was lit up with a million glowsticks.  The sight was really cool, and once the kcon trailer started playing, i could feel my eardrums slowly dying as the screams of thousands of fangirls echoed throughout the arena.  The feeling was really surreal, haha.

The lineup in order was: f(x), Dynamic Duo, Yu Seung Woo, 2AM, Henry, Teen Top, Crayon Pop, Missy Elliot, EXO, then G Dragon.  I think I may have gotten the order wrong at one part but whatevs lol.  Omg I really like how f(x) started off the concert though.  They performed Electric Shock, Rum Pum Pum Pum, and Hot Summer.  Amber even MC'ed for a bit.... let's just say I have one of the BIGGEST girl crushes on her. like, PERIOD. hehe

tbh I don't want to type a lot cause this post is already kind of long, but the concert was AMAZING.  Some of the more memorable moments was when 2AM sang Bruno Mars' Just the Way You Are (it was so cute), Missy Elliot collaborabed with GD at the end, and EXO freaking as;dlfja;dsf. I literally JUMPED out of my seat and screamed as loud as I could.  Well, I was actually screaming the entire length of the concert cause heck everyone was so amazing live.  Teen Top even debuted their new song for us! Ugh their dance moves were just as;lfajs;f

All in all, I give the convention a measly 6.5/10.  It's only 6.5 cause of all the free crap I got haha.  The food trucks were friggin expensive, the merch was expensive (except for the kmusic both), and idk man a lot of stuff wasn't that interesting.  The concert definitely made up for all of the disappointment I had for the past two days.  At the end, all of the artists came out and waved goodbye on the runway thing.  UGGHGHh artist interactions too as;lfja;sldf

Would I go back for the convention? No.  For the concert? Shoosh yah.  The concert was AMAZING (even though my throat became hoarse and my ears were ringing from how LOUD it was in there), and I would definitely return next year if KCON was close to me again cause tbh it only took us 30 minutes to get there by car haha.

THIS CONCLUDES MY EXPERIENCE... I think I left out a LOT of details but I didn't want to bore you guys out. If you want to see a few pics I'll be posting them up on my twit acc @baegyol .  Please don't repost or reupload them without giving me credit though, since my arms were tired from holding up the camera and zooming in all the time.

KCON 2013 woooooohhhh! btw I think I'm going to rewatch the M Countdown episode just so I could relive the moment hehe ^^

Oh I was wondering if camcorders are allowed at the concert
