Background :

Nam Soo Jin was born on April 10, 1992 to a family of four, her parents and older siblings in Busan, South Korea. Her parents were of high standards and had high expectations towards their children and their futures. Soo Jin was musically interested from a very young age, playing the piano since the tender age of four. When they moved to Seoul, she was allowed to take violin and dance lessons and later also singing lessons. Her wish to succeed resulted in long hours of practice and little free time to spare. She had little time for friends.

Her thoughts on auditioning surfaced as she was scouted at the mall in middle school. She had always wanted to perform and be in the entertainment business, as her older sister and best friend was. She auditioned and was granted access to the trainee life.
