real talk

Okay so, seen i've seen a lot of posts aboarding this matters, i will tell ya what's my intake on these matters and my opinions and such.

DESCLAIMERS:  this is MY opinion and so, this does not mean everyone has to agree with it or that it reflects the general writers's minds.

1)      Comments

For some writers comments do not matter. I mean, we’ve all seen all of these blog posts about how some writers want to give up and just stop posting bc there are little to none comments and hey! That’s totally fine with me but don’t say that writers live and write bc of the comments. Yes, they are indeed important but let me tell ya something: the last time I’ve got a comment was like 5 months ago and you still see me writing.

It’s true, we need someone to push us from behind and tell us that yes, someone reads what we are writing. You see, since I’ve kind of given up on K-pop and got away from the fandoms, I’ve lost most connections with this world. I started writing stories for the J-rock fandom, moved to LJ, tastes all kinds of different writings and pairings I’ve never thought I would actually enjoy.

And I still get no comments and that’s fine with me because I found a solution to that: I have my best friend and mom to read my stories and push me from behind and hey, sometimes, someone close to you reading or appreciating what you create is more important than thousands of comments. Believe me.

2)      The hype about EXO getting much more stories than other bands and constantly being on the main page.

Now, don’t get me wrong, it does bug me sometimes that EXO is always in the spotlight and such, but we cannot force people to write for a certain fandom and for a certain band just like we cannot force people to read some stories featuring some bands. You cannot but it’s your right to rant about it because hello! In a way I am also ranting right now.

Let’s be honest here: this is no longer ASIANfanfics, it’s K-pop fanfics and I am totally cool with that but you do not know what having little to none stories of your favorite bands until you’ve experienced the pain of searching on this site. Sure, you can move to LJ like I did and read there but it’s much easier to use AFF than LJ and that’s a fact. Deal with it.

Now, if I see another comment telling me how I should write my own fanfics about those bands I’mma smack a . I totally appreciate the fact that you a little of your time to post a comment but I AM doing that and come on! Think a little before you say this to those writers that post and rant about how their favorite bands has no fanfics: it’s not so fun to read your own stories because you already know what’s going to happen, you know the surprise. It’s not the same. So sit yo and be glad that your bands gets stories.

3)      The Hype about “Anterograde Tomorrow”

Okay, so, it’s a good story, yes, but that does not meant that if you don’t like it you have no idea what a well written story is like. I’ve read it and I didn’t enjoy it as much as everyone else. I might as well say that I’m not going to read it ever again but that’s just me and I have the right to feel this way so stop mothering shoving your beliefs down someone’s throat, alright? Alright.

4)      OTPs.

I’m going to laugh a bit. Don’t tell me about the struggle of shipping a pairing that has little followers. Truth is, you have no idea what that feels like. I have otps, and I am not ing with you, that are detested (all of the pairings that contain the word “het” are hated but that’s another thing. “het” is the forbidden word and if you want to lead a peaceful life while in this fandom, you better ship aoiha and not use this word) and nobody, and I mean NOBODY, ships them so don’t tell me what it’s like.

You at least have some fanfics, some follower maybe an insignificant amount when compared to the well-known otps but it’s. still. Something.

Stop complaining.

And with that, Ria is out ready for the bashing ;)

sorry it there are some grammar mistakes. i'm tired.

And years after, this is just as relevant, especially the EXO bit. People still find it annoying and unfair that so many of the popular stories on AFF feature EXO, as if that's a surprise.

agreed with everything you wrote. when i first started writing fanfics, i basically thrived off comments. but now i don't really mind. i don't write for other people, i write for myself. and as long as i'm happy with my work then comments don't make much of a difference to me. & i guess exo is just really popular on here because there's a lot of exotics? lol idk. i don't mind it. some of the best fanfics i've read are exo, and like you said you can't force anyone to write a specific group just because you think they should. everyone is entitled to their own opinion and it's okay not to like something. if some people didn't enjoy anterograde tomorrow, it's their own opinion. and the whole thing with otps.. it's like the exo fanfics. a person's otp is a person's otp; you can't force someone to change it. if they like that pairing, so be it.

dude can i agree with you for anterograde tomorrow. ok idk abour you, but the overhyped fanfics (arbritrage, absolute chanyeol, etc etc) are like, what. i've tried reading both kaisoo fics but i found both too boring for my personal taste and whenever i tell some people this, they're like "you don't know good writing then." sorry but i've read way better fics of my otps (krisho, sukai, seho) then any others. i don't know, its just my personal taste once again and i agree that people should stop shoving down their beliefs down others throat like nope lol.

Thanks for writing this. It echoes my own thoughts.

It annoys me to no end to see writers complain about lack of comments, subs etc. Makes me wonder what's the real reason behind them writing a fic anyway? It's like they're doing it to get some fame, which is kinda sad. I believe writers need to feel satisfied and motivated by their passion first before the recognition of others.

And yes, I'm getting tired of the avalanche of EXO-based stories but Imma keep my mouth shut on this. I just choose not to read them.

Anterograde Tomorrow - read it and didn't think it was that great either.

OTPs. I don't even want to go there.

Hahaha~ No comments is fine with me. I just have problems when people interrogate me because they don't like my writing. But I'm like, if they don't like my story, they should just go away~ >.<
