Some things never change, and SooRi is one of them (1st pic from 2009; 2nd pic from 2013)

I’ve been meaning to type this out for the longest time, but I kept delaying it for one reason or another. I keep on wondering why SooRi isn’t such a popular pairing, even within Soo-Pairings. Now I’ll probably come off as being biased, since SooRi is my ultimate OTP, but honestly SooRi is one of the most real and closest pairings within SNSD, being up there with TaeNy even. Let's NOT imagine them as romantic partners. Let's NOT think about our fanfic fantasies... but let's DO think about their ACTUAL and TRUE friendship in real life. Their friendship is definitely real and they have such a strong bond with each other and there is so much evidence to show and prove it.

One of the main reasons I say that SooRi has one of the strongest friendships is how well their personalities click with one another. It’s not just me who says this, even SooRi themselves have admitted they think alike and have the same sense of humor, multiple times even. They don’t admit this fact just once. Any long-time SONE would know how dorky and violent SooRi can be, especially when you look at all these past moments. No one can deny how hilarious these two can be when you put them together.

SooRi are the kkab pair of SNSD; both of them act like dorky, little kids. Even now they're still like that (The water tube GIF is during The Boys era while the last two are from a press conference during IGAB era). Even though both of them have been called out by SM's president, telling SooRi to stop their crazy antics on show, as you can see, they're still the kkab pair that they've always been. 

I remember when SooRi first got popular. It was during the Girls' Generation era. During Tiffany's part, the other members would do a silly action with each other, and SooRi were paired with each other. At first it was pretty innocent.

Then it started growing more intense...

And well... Even Tiffany was surprised herself xD

Then as eras changed, I became sad when people slowly started not to ship them anymore, claiming that SooRi rarely had any moments anymore. I found that to be ridiculous because SooRi has had pretty awesome, epic moments, I felt like people weren't looking hard enough. Sure, maybe they didn't have as many moments as other pairings, but it doesn't mean their friendship/bond was weakening. I don't like it when people judge how real a pairing is based off how many moments they have, because people don't consider what happens when cameras aren't on SNSD.

A good exampe for SooRi is when they went to Boracay in the Philippines (Filipinos represent! xD) with Taeyeon and their families for vacation sometime before they began working on The Boys. Since they were on vacation, there are no cameras around to film them, but you know there are moments happening. It's only until SNSD guests on The Beatles Code where Sooyoung reveals she went swimming with Yuri, and ironically comments how Yuri looks the prettiest when she swims (remember, "sooyoung" in Korean means "swimming). Another exampe is that SooRi both go to the same university together. As seen from an episode of Star Theatre, we got a glimpse of their college life together and I'm sure there are so many other moments we missed because it's all BTS.

Kind of off topic, and this is simply speculation, but I believe that out of all the SNSD members, Yuri seems to be the closet to Sooyoung's family. I've seen Yuri in some pictures together with Sooyoung and Soojin, Sooyoung's older sister. Even Sooyoung's mom says if she could have any of the members as a son (SY's mom always wanted a son), she'd choose Yuri because she likes how cute and friendly Yuri is. (What I'm about to say is going to include comparisons between SooRi and SooSica. Please keep in mind that I am not trying to prove that SooRi is the better ship in any way. I am simply stating my own subjective opinion why I personally prefer SooRi over SooSica. And just to put it out there, I am a SooSicSphere myself and they are my 2nd OTP. I would never dare hate on a beloved pairing of mine.)

Back in late 2008 when I was slowly getting into SNSD, I was actually torn between SooRi and SooSica. Both had their sweet moments as well as their violent moments, with SooSica acting more like an old, bickering couple. As the years went by, I started to notice how sweet and adorable SooSica was becoming. I noticed their subtle stares (that are sometimes not so subtle) at each other, the quick, flashing smiles at each other, the airport pictures. The growth in their relationship is only natural since Sooyoung and Jessica have been friends since 2000 and became roommates during the Genie era. But despite how long they've known each other, SooSica is only a sweet, cute couple. It's not a bad thing, I definitely love me some sweet SooSica, but as a Sooyoungster, something I really love about Sooyoung's personality is missing with SooSica: Sooyoung's dorky and violent side, a side that SooRi has because their personalities are more compatible with each other.

One reason why SooRi so much, other than the other reason I've listed already, is how their friendship is very similar to my own. I love to joke and play around with my friends, occassionally pretending to be violent with them, but at the end of the day we all still love each other. Sooyoung can easily show her crazy side to Yuri, and both can be dorks together. You won't see these kinds of moments between SooSica and it's these moments, as well as sweet ones, that always keeps me going with SooRi

Random extra notes

-Unstoppable Marriage wouldn't have been the same if you took out Sooyoung or Yuri and replaced one of them with another SNSD member. SooRi really shined in UM because although they were actresses in a sitcom, they were still being themselves

-Out of the members who are supporting vocalists, SooRi are the only ones (as far as I can think of) that have participated in singing for an OST and it was a SooRi duet.
