Writing My Stories
Hi! Writer nchopsticks here.
I had a small conversation with one of my readers, swooner, earlier today, and it inspired me to write this post. So I guess it's just blabber, but I felt the need to write it down. Lol wow. I don't expect anyone to read, but ah well.
Just a caveat: I realize that I won't ever be AFF famous or anything like that, but that's okay. I have some pretty amazing and loyal readers that I would never in a million years want to replace. You guys are seriously amazing :D
The real reason for writing this is my wish to give you guys a glimpse of what I think about as I write my stories. I know part of the reason why I am not AFF famous is because my characters lack the spunkiness or the cute adorable-ness that most other fics have. They're all very laid-back, very normal people. Often, no quality they possess makes them amazing or a stand-out among the crowd. But I hope that because of those qualities, my characters appeal to you, my readers, more. Because you can actually see a glimpse of yourselves as you read it. Sometimes, my OC's can be irrational, sometimes they're confused, sometimes they act selfishly, sometimes they're scared, and a lot of times, they're just as unsure as we are when we have to make important decisions. I hope that as you read, you grasp that sense of realism I try to sprinkle in. Because as amazing as our oppars are, they're all human beings as well. They don't just fall for people with amazing bodies and boundless talent and hearts of gold. They could fall in love at the most random encounters, and sometimes, they fall in love for no apparent reason other than a connection they felt with another individual. It's simple as that. I understand that it's a letdown from our natural tendency to try giving everything pizzazz, but it's my form of giving people hope: you don't have to be pretty, or amazing, or broken to be given attention. You could just be you. And hopefully, that's enough.
Also, since we're talking about broken, I realize that I never really write about broken, crushed spirits who need fixing. As I've said through a character's dialogue in my story, to be in a fulfilled relationship, you have to be fulfilled with yourself first. You need to be satisfied in your own skin to make your future partner comfy in the relationship. I realize that two broken spirits could come together to heal each other's wounds, but let's face it, I am not emotionally nuanced enough to write about stuff like that. I'm a young writer, and I'm as normal and as boring as can be. Haha
Now that I think about it, I guess I write boring situations too. LOL the dialogue doesn't really contain anything amazing, either. It's two people talking... like normal people. Heh. So I guess it just goes along the same vein as the OC's I create. They're supposed to be as natural as you can get.
So, that's it, guys. Hahaha nothing groundbreaking or earth-shattering. Just my thoughts. If you've read this far, man, I am amazed. How did you put up with it? LOL Thanks. ^_^
