(traits) sensitive. loyal. shy. witty.

(personality) patience, tactfulness, eloquence and a level head are one of the many things Mei Li has acquired during her years of training in diplomacy, but she is most admired for her natural sensitivity. it was the trait that had made her the great diplomat she is today. it allowed her to read a person’s thoughts and emotions and determine their personalities with almost uncanny accuracy – an ability that she has used to play up to her advantage and resolve arguments in many diplomatic missions in the past.

she is also extremely loyal. there is no limit to the things she is willing to do for her loved ones. she is more than willing give up everything for them, even her own life. this made her a strong character, one that was much loved by many people. but at the same time, it became one of the weaknesses her enemies or rivals can use against her.

tall and graceful, Mei Li always seemed to be surrounded by an air of quiet confidence, but she is really a shy person at heart. unless on diplomatic missions, she would rarely talk and would prefer to stay out of the spotlight. it takes a long time to draw Mei Li out of her shell, but once you did you would find her to be a very witty and attractive person to know.

(backgroundfor years the hustle and bustle of the marketplace and the crowded streets of Hanyang had been her home. her whole life had been one dull, monotonous routine. every single day the fourteen-year-old would wake up at the crack of dawn to help Wang Li, her twin brother. she would harvest to the crops. milk the cattle. go to the market to trade and sell what she could. do the occasional odd job, if there is any. and then, as the sky went dark, she would go home and tend to their mother.
Hui Ling was considered a beauty in her youth, but Mei Li could see no signs of the proud, beautiful woman now. she only saw the empty, lifeless shell that was her mother, pale and fragile and sickly thin. she spent most of her time in a deep state of depression and grief – she suspected it was because of their father, a high-ranking nobleman and warrior in Hanyang, who had died in a war when they were still six years of age.
Despite not receiving any form of formal education, she taught herself how to read and write and soon became just as intelligent as any of the more wealthy children had been. two years later, after their mother’s death, she was accepted to train as a diplomat while Wang Li went into military training.

(personalityhe was a playful and humorous young dragon, fond of making sarcastic remarks and always insisting to have the last word in every one of their arguments. he was also slightly clumsy, occasionally unconsciously trampling over trees and, yes, even people as well (although so far she had always managed to stop him before he could put his great big paw over the said person). he was impulsive, too. but on the whole he was a steady, dependable companion and he was extremely protective towards Mei Li (he hates it if she had to go somewhere without him and he can’t watch over her).

(relationshipthey had a slightly rocky relationship. her dragon would, sometimes, be a little reluctant to follow orders and they constantly bickered with each other over the most trivial things. but Mei Li trusts him on the whole, and vice versa. he watched over the girl and gave her a shoulder to lean on during times of trouble. and he was and would always be there whenever she needed him.

(relationship)

1) being a diplomat, Mei Li would often have to work closely with the chinese ambassadors, one of them being Kim Jongdae. his liveliness and good-humored nature was what had drawn her to him. he had an infectious smile and could make her laugh over the simplest things, although his jokes would occasionally exasperate her. in turn, she had surprised Jongdae by being one of the few people who could best him in a contest of wits, much to his shock and delight. they became fast friends and often sought out each other’s company from time to time. somewhere along the way their friendship took a turn for something more special.

2) she had been working to keep her little family alive and taking care of her mother for as long as she could remember, and because of it she longed for some affection. for someone who could help her ease the burden from her shoulders and care for her. and that someone was the korean prince. they met each other during her diplomatic trip to Korea and had struck a conversation, though Mei Li was extremely nervous and shy to speak to the gentleman. they became friends and he became her surrogate brother – giving her a shoulder to lay on, listening to her woes, protecting her. afraid that their relationship will be broken and his feelings not returned, Joonmyun never told her that he actually loves her. what he didn’t know is that, deep down, Mei Li feels the same.

(scene requestsi was going to say ‘nada. write whatever floats your boat.’ but then i got this crazy idea of a scene in my head about when Mei Li and her dragon was having one of their more serious fights that ended up with Mei Li getting upset and leaving. and then, a few days later, when she was walking down the many corridors of the royal palace after a meeting with Jongdae she heard a heavy rustle and turned to see her dragon floating by the window, wide eyes staring back at her.
i’m sorry. he said meekly, and she pursed her lips. seeing her reaction, he brought his front paws together in a pleading gesture. she huffed and closed her eyes. fine. i hate you. he brightened up and began blowing heart-shaped smoke rings, baring his teeth in a wide grin. i love you too.
just a crazy suggestion, tho ;)
