“Let me go get my husband,” I say.

“You’re not going to let me wait inside?” The vice principal’s voice sounded confused. I stayed silent and thought for a moment, deciding to let him in.

“Please come in.” I say.

“Thank you,” he replied.

I pushed the door release button on the intercom. The vice principal walked off-screen.
