The old that is strong does not wither
Idols come and go. Some shined brightly as they fell; others never had a chance to fly. If idols—those who inspire—came and went like the tides of the ocean, then who was to say that their fans were any more resilient?
Yet somehow Cassiopeia weathered through.
Some people said the true Cassiopeia had fallen apart long ago. Other claimed that Cassiopeia continued but with different aspirations. Neither were wrong yet none were correct. It was a complicated family tree in which belonging was a difficult thing to determine but the origins were clear.
Cassiopeia had begun with five boys who dreamed of something larger than themselves. A pearl red ocean answered them with gentle ripples at first and then with stormy surges. A dream that started off in Korea made way across Asia and into the hearts of hundreds of thousands fans everywhere. Fans that called themselves ‘Cassies’ with pride.
So no, the origins were not the subject to question. It was the present state: OT5 or Orion or Homin or Xiapaw or Yoochun stan or YunJae shipper or just a hater. Complicated lines scrawled all across the five stars once lined up in the shape of a perfect W—or are they still?
Regardless of which part fans associated themselves with, Cassiopeia endured.
And she will continue to endure as long as these five boys—now men—are still dreaming.
