You know what irks me...

ApplyFics

Now it's not necessarily the apply fic general because I think that they are awesome. I've even applied for some and actually have 2 current applicant fics that I'm working on.

But I don't know if I would say it like this but you could probably say it's the author that irks. Now I'm not hating on any authors with apply fics but it's the fact of writing the fic.

I go around looking at different apply stories and I notice something about some of them. The author will just make the story and you know get all the applicants and maybe get into the story a bit by writing some chapter and they just stop!

It's kinda unbelievable to me that they just have their story and suddenly stop writing it. Now I guess I can kinda understand if you stop for a specific reason or if you can't update for a super long time, I can understand that. But there maybe also might be authors that just down right stop.

Now if you know that you might stop, and I'm not saying that you might, but if you have like this feeling that applyfics might not work for you or you think you probably won't finish it. Then maybe don't write one or don't write on your own.

Plus apply stories and regular stories are kinda different in the sense of stop writing them. See when you have a regular story and you just stop writing then yeah those that like it will probably be upset, sad, and/or disappointed. But if you just stop writing an apply fic then it's kinda like your just leaving your applicants hanging; well to me at least. Your applicants work hard to apply for your story so you should at least give them something in return like writing your story that they applied for.

And that is exactly one of the reasons why I decided to make two applyfics. The first reason being because I wanted to try out apply stories because it seemed like a cool idea to work with characters made by other people. At first I was nervous about it but it is fun like I thought. And second reason, like I said, is I wanted to make an apply story that my applicants could be proud of and/or look forward to. One that will actually get finished, one where they will be able to see how it ends.

And that’s exactly what I want to do and are going to do for ☪Battle Of The Realms and for War Of Zanburik. I promise that I will get those two stories done. I don’t know how long it will take but it will happen, both stories will be complete.

And that also goes for any applyfics that I will write in the future. I actually already have some ideas for some new ones :)

But anyway, the point is, if you want to write an applyfic, at least maybe think about if before you do. You know, things like will you be able to finish it will you not.

And what do you guys think about this? Have you ever applied for a fic and it never got finished? Did the author just like stop working on it once?

Tell me about it~

Well... Um.. I'm one of that kind of author that goes m.i.a? I guess...
This is an example for authors that disappear before the story starts: It's because there's not enough applicants (self defense) and I just can't really go on if well for instance I need 6 girls but there's only 5 appliers and only 2 that comments regularly (when I post teaser or such) and that makes me lazy to continue as they seem to not be interested in the story before it even started.
And ggomaontop is correct. Once I chose the final girls, almost half of my subscribers disappear. It doesn't really matter to me (as long as there's a bit of support, I can keep going), but it just... Makes me a bit upset.

*Chuckles nervously* guilty as charged. But it's pretty easy to be a hypocrite. I'm not saying you are, but I do remember having a rant really similar to this a long long time ago. I do try to make efforts to finish my apply fics, but I get sidetracked by my other stories. Especially since mine is 24++ characters, for apply stories, authors kind of get overwhelmed by it all. (Kind of speaking for mostly myself) and then I pick out apps that seemed perfect and realize they have a few gaps later on. It's just hard to write with other people's characters. Also, I used to update everyday when I first started Lethally Precisioned, but I got busier and got sidetracked by other stories. I will eventually finish the stories, but I do agree it is really annoying if the author has not updated at all after the applicants were chosen. It's also partially bc after applicants are chosen, a LOT of people stop being supportive as they were before, less comments and less subscribers, and I think for some authors it's self deprecating. Mine, thankfully have been fine with subbies and such, but other authors... I think they get affected by that a lot. I'm not saying that their actions are excused, but authors have a life too. :/ but yes, if they don't have intentions to update, they should never start an apply fic
