Me and baby names...
With the pending arrival of the new prince or princess of England I once again started thinking about baby names. I have four girl names picked out and one boy name.
Nilia: When I was an intern in a kindergarten I met a little girl called Nilia. She was the prettiest thing I have ever seen and just adorable. I love the many i's in the name. There is only four people in Denmark with that name.
Miriam: I just love it. It could be shortened to "Miri". Again the i's.
Imogen: I actually didn't like this name two years ago. It was very odd to me and I just didn't get it. Then I met an aupair who took care of a little girl named Imogen, shortened "Immy" and the more I heard it, the more I like it. However, I am pretty sure I will only name my daughter Imogen if I have an English speaking man or live in an English speaking country. Many Danes would have no clue how to pronounce it.
Amanda: This is kind of my joker. I like it but I don't love it. I would shorten it to "Mandy".
Isaac: The only boy name! I LOVE this name, but as with Imogen, only in English. The Danish pronounciation of this name is outright ridiculous. So it would be a nogo in Denmark. At least in my eyes.
As you might have noticed, I like names that can be shortened. My name is Ida and I never had a petname, which always made me sad, so I want my kids to have petnames.
Also.... I'm melting ._____.
