Well, he definitely gets that from Chen, because Chen likes to make his own sound effects too. He must have practiced that, while Chen was practicing his thunder noises for Weekly Idol. I wouldn't put it past the two to be like "Hey, does this sound good?" and then proceed to practice until the two found that it indeed did sound good to them or say it did and then laugh when they make fools of themselves on TV and radio.
